I have a site visit coming up in September and im only having the one as i cannot afford to go again. Im trying to make as many decisions as i possibly can before i go! im not sure what to do about food at the reception. Im having an evening reception at the yacht club, and would like to stick as close to the $100 min as possible. Can anyone share with me what they had for there evening reception? or give me some idea's?

Im thinking of limiting the drinking to a beer and wine bar only as ive been advised this will save money? Do you think it is ok to do this? or will m guests moan?

Also, UK brides that ordered a Planning Kit from Disney - how long did it take to arrive? :bride:

Well, my DH and I were married way back in 98 at WDW. We had our ceremony at the YC Gazebo. We had our cocktail hour at the French Arm which ended with Illuminations and then our reception in Italy's Isola from 9pm to 1am. What a night we had...incredible.

My point in posting is to let you know that most of our guests drank wine and champagne. I think if you add beer to that it would be great. We actually brought in our own wine and paid a $10 corkage fee per bottle because Disney's was not offering the bottle we wanted. Our biggest mistake was that in addition to the wine and champane we offered an open bar....and pre-paid like $55 per person for that. What a waste! I wish we had offered an open bar, but on consumption, which is what we had for our rehearsal dinner party (which included everyone who came to the wedding...42 people.). For 2 hours that ran about $400 with tip. Now, keep in mind, this was over seven years ago. But I definitely think that if you offer wine, beer and a nice sparkling wine/champagne it would be lovely.

See the great thing about having a planner is that she can help you with this. Tell her that you want to stick close to the budget and she will give you plenty of options. Don't worry, you can absolutely have a wonderful meal for $100 per person. Is this your sales planning session? If it is, you will not actually be able to do a tasting. If you have already booked and this is the formal planning session, then they can set up a tasting for you. If you go to the Disney Weddings website you can actually print sample menus. It is under the custom weddings in the dining section. I wouldn't focus entirely on the food if this is your sales session. Food can be picked over the phone without a tasting. I would be concerned more with doing the things that you must do in Disney. On my sales session we scouted the locations and went through the various planning albums (cakes, flowers, invitations, themes, etc.) with the sales coordinator. This would be really hard to do from home.
