I do not post often, but wanted to let everyone know about our recent trip on Dec. 15-22. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

When we arrived at check in, the first thing they said was we had been upgraded from pool view to Arusha view. That was cool!!! Got to our room and from the balcony immediately saw lots of animals -- giraffes, antelope and zebras. We were happy.

On Sunday morning the toilet stopped up--called and maintenance came. Worked on it for about 15 minutes and said it was good. We went off to Animal Kingdom for the day. Returned in the evening and first time we used the toilet it stopped up again. A supervisor called us and said they would move us but they did not have another handicapped accessible room available with roll in shower. They gave us a $100 credit on any charges to our room.

On Monday am the toilet stopped up again. This time they called and asked which resort we would like to move to. We said we would like to stay at Animal Kingdom but if that was not possible, let us know what was available. They called back and said Bay Lake Towers had a 1 bedroom, lake view unit available.

We were packing when the housekeeping supervisor knocked on our door. He apologized again and again and said there was a club level suite available at Animal Kingdom on our same floor and he would like to show it to us and see if it would be ok with us to stay there.
It was a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath suite with a huge living room and a decorated Christmas tree in the living room. WOW!!! We said there are only 2 of us --- were told that did not matter. They had everything moved for us.

We had reservations at Tony's and were over 1 hour late. We were told not to worry.
When we got to Tony's they apologized for our troubles and said they had our table waiting. They put a red tablecloth with a red and white checked square on top of it with a red drippy candle in a wine bottle (like the movie) on our table!! People next to us asked how to got that.

The rest of the week was wonderful and everyone at the hotel was very nice to us. We were even introduced to our mousekeeper and told to let her know of anything we needed.

We received lots and lots of pixie dust all week. We took it slow and easy all week. This was the first trip without children/grandchildren in a long time. We really enjoyed resort hopping to see decorations; taking our time in the parks to see street shows, etc.

We went to the Candlelight Processional without reservations. Over half the theater was empty and about 400 standby people got in. There was a cast member who told us about 3:00 not to worry about it that loads and loads of standby people got in. The people who did the dinner package were waiting in line long before us. We were on the third row. Really enjoyed the show.

Disney really showed us this trip that they take care of their guests. We loved Animal Kingdom Lodge --- ate way too much food on the regular dining plan----and had really neat experiences all week.

The crowds were only heavy at Magic Kingdom and it was not a MVMCP night. Loved being there at Christmas.

Sorry about the toilet trouble. It's great though that AKL went more then the extra mile to make it right. YAY, so excited you got such a nice pixie dust surprise!

That's why we continue to go back! Enjoyed your report. :)

We were upgraded the last time we were there. It was wonderful. We love the concierge level. It feels magical when it happens. So glad you had a magical time.

Wow that's great customer service!! We had the same issue once and our non English speaking maintenance guy told us we were using the toilet wrong :rotfl2: It was all good though. Again so glad you had such a magical trip!

The. Disney. Difference.

$50 bucks worth of comps along with a huge room upgrade scores a lifelong customer...

And that is how it's done. Glad to see Disney is getting back to doing things like this !

So happy for OP's extra pixie dust. But LMAO on this. Please tell, just how does one use a toilet wrong? LOL

The toilets have a bladder inside with air inside the bladder. It is designed to forcefully push the water out by using the air inside the bladder. We had quite the education on this toilet.

You were supposed to hold the handle down for a few seconds.

I kept thinking I just did not know how to use the "new fangled" toilet and at first the maintenance person gave instructions on use. Pretty funny to spend your vacation being told how to flush a toilet.

They ended up taking the toilet off to see what had gotten stuck in the line. We never knew what they found. We were happily in our huge club level suite by then!!!

Just know the toilets at Disney are different --- very loud also.
