My wife and I returned Saturday from a wonderful stay at BCV. We arrived by car on Xmas day at 10:00 AM, and our room (studio) was ready! I guess it must have been unoccupied Xmas Eve. Everything was "neat and pretty" in the room, except for a drip on the front of the fridge, and some "Pledge" that wasn't wiped in thoroughly. I called housekeeping for an "eggshell" foam mattress to make the sofabed more comfortable for my sister who arrived by air later in the day, and the "mattress" was delivered within 10 minutes. What really floored us was our full housekeeping day on Monday. We had left coffee cups and juice glasses in the sink to be washed up later, and housekeeping did them as part of their cleaning! I made sure to leave a nice tip the day we left, but realized that those responsible for that particular cleaning probably didn't get the tip. Next time I receive such exceptional service, I'm going to make an effort to see that the tip is given to the appropriate staff member. When we asked a housekeeper in the hall for an additional coffee cup (there were only two in the cupboard), she brought two immediately and politely refused a tip. All of the cast members were exceptionally pleasant at a time of year that I'm sure can be quite demanding and hectic.
The parks were very crowded, so we went early (in the dark for extra magic hour), and left when it became unpleasantly crowded. We also had to dress warmly in the morning, and shed fleece, etc. as it became warmer. My sister, who had never been to WDW, was wowed by everything. We took her on several resort tours (weren't allowed through the gate at WL on Xmas day, but went back on Monday), and she was just amazed at the architecture and theming. She claims that the Grand Floridian exceeds The Plaza in NYC (where she lives - NYC, not the Plaza) in grandeur. She loved the parks as well, especially World Showcase and Animal Kingdom. Didn't have time in three days to do it all, but we did Fantasmic at 10:30 one evening (not quite full), and the Candlelight Processional in Epcot which she said was the best show of its type she had ever seen. It was the first time attending the Processional for my wife and I as well, and we too were "blown away."
Weather reached 80 degrees by New Year's Day, and no rain at all!!! (We usually go in June, as we will again in 22 weeks - not that I'm counting) It couldn't have been a greater vacation, although we have decided that in '05 when we take our son, DIL and grandchildren it will be the week before Xmas, not Xmas to New Year's. We felt sorry for families with children - many lines were at least an hour long. People were in line for 3 hours for Mission Space! Any questions?

I don't have any questions, but I wanted to say that I enjoyed reading your lovely trip report. DH and I agree that the CP is the best show of it's kind that we've ever seen. And Oh, to live at the Plaza Hotel, now that would be something!

Glad you had a great trip!!!!!

No questions just thank you for a great report. It was made without the usual complaining...A positive report! DH & I are going next year from 12/25 to 1/1...No kids, so we don't mind the crowds. And we are thinking about doing the parks in a different way.

Thanks for a great report. We'll be at BCV for our first trip home in 26 days (but who's counting ;-)

I do recommend you try the week after Thanksgiving next time. We were at WDW one year at that time, arrived the day after Thanksgiving, and it was perfect. Got to see all the Christmas shows and decorations, but the crowds were minimal and the weather was lovely. Highly recommended time to go!!

Disney Duo - I'm excited for you, and hope that your experience was as great as ours was! The week after Thanksgiving sounds nice, but I'm afraid it would be a bit too early to truly get into the Christmas spirit. Anybody have experience with the week before Xmas? We're planning on a Sunday arrival (2 day drive from PA), and a Friday departure. Xmas is a Sunday in '05, so our grandchildren will be home and all snuggled in their own beds for Santa's visit. Again, what have you guys experienced the week before Xmas as far as crowds are concerned?Anybody have experience with the week before Xmas?

Hi, Sam!

I was there the week before Christmas. Crowds were very low. We fastpassed Mission space, etc. The longest wait (without a fast pass) was for Mission Space and it was 45 minutes. We fast passed it and waited just 5 minutes.

Weather was cold for Florida though - nights got into the 30's. I'm in Lancaster County, PA (your neighbor!) and it was nothing for us, but for others they were all bundled up. We found that amusing though. :)

Points are low that week also! We were at VWL from the 13th to the 21st.

HTH !

Just wanted to say that I enjoyed your trip report. We are back to BCV in 190 days, but really who counts these things down??LOL:p

Glad to hear that you had a good trip. DW and I have enjoyed the CP in the past and agree that it is a nice show.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We'll probably get a 2 bedroom unit instead of two studios as a result of the lower points. We'll also prepare for the possibility of cold weather, realizing that the upper 70s we recently experienced were unusual. Anybody else been to WDW the week before Christmas?
