We just got back yesterday. We did not do ddp but did use the disney dining experience card (now tables in wonderland?).
1st day
We ate breakfast in the room then headed to AK.
Went to Flame Tree BBQ. DH had the ribs and I had the chicken. The chicken was great! It was hot and had great flavor. DH tried it and said it was much better than his ribs.
For dinner, we ate at McDonalds in Epcot. We put off dinner too long and by then, those nuggets really tasted good! We only went in to ride Soarin, TT and to see fireworks so we didn't feel like going far for food.
Day 2
Breakfast was at Spoodles. This was a first for us and was very good. DH had the Italian and loved it. DD and I both had the all you can eat platter although I subbed waffles for the french toast. DS had waffles. The food was great and the service was good. We plan to eat there again.
Lunch was in the room.
Dinner was at Yachtsman. We had heard a lot of good reviews here and chose it instead of Captain's Grill. We should have stuck with Captain's Grill. I ordered the filet mignon. I love filets. This one was not good. It was cooked a little more done than what I ordered but it just didn't taste good. Dh tried it too and didn't like it. He ordered the porterhouse and said it was okay. DD had grilled chicken which dh said was better than my steak. We were so unimpressed with this meal that when we fixed tacos in the room the next night we thought they tasted better than Yachtsman.
Day 3
Went to Seaworld and then had dinner in the room.
Day 4
Breakfast and lunch in the room.
Dinner at Ohana's. We had ADR for Kona Cafe but when we got there decided to check Ohana. We were unable to book it when making ADRs. Walked up and got a table within 10 minutes. DH really loved this meal. The turkey and pork were great. I loved them. I also loved the wings. DH loved the shrimp and the salad. He is diabetic and they brought out a no sugar added apple stack. He said it was the best sugar free dessert he's ever had. I had the bananas foster dessert they offer there and loved it. I don't like coconut so was concerned I wouldn't like it but it didn't have a strong coconut flavor that I could tell. The kids really enjoyed the meal and had fun with coconut races. DH said he would do this one again.
Day 5
Breakfast at Chef Mickey's. It was fine. The 3 cheese omelette was really good. We do CM every trip so this one might be getting old for us. It's mandatory for the kids. DS fell in love with Pluto on this trip so it was worth it for him to have interaction with Pluto.
Lunch in the room.
Dinner at Peco's Bill. This was during MNSSHP. It was absolutely deserted. The cast members were so bored they were dancing while waiting for customers. We had a long conversation with one of the CMs and she said the park was unusually deserted. DH and I shared a burger (nothing great) and the taco salad. We both really liked the salad and wish we'd both ordered it.
Day 6
Breakfast and lunch in the room.
Dinner at 1900 Park Fare. We hadn't done this meal in quite a few years and we really enjoyed it. The stepsisters and stepmother were hilarious. I'm a meat and potatoes person and the prime rib and the mashed potatoes were really great. I didn't really care for the strawberry soup or the paella.
Day 7
We just ate in the room before checking out. We wanted to grab something at the MK bakery (those cinnamon rolls looked great) but for the first time on the trip, encountered a line. The line was out the door so we decided to skip it.
My biggest regret was Yachtsman. We won't do it again. For the price, I'd rather go to our Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. I wish we had checked on Le Cellier since crowds seemed to be down...maybe there would have been some no shows since I hadn't had any luck with making ADRs there.
