Can anyone give an update to the status of the construction interruptions at VWL? I did a search and saw one post from someone who seemed to think that the construction impact was of minimal disruption.

Also, is there some sort of planned schedule so we can see what might potentially be happening at the time we want to travel - like in the November time frame?

Thanks

The construction can be non existent one day, be reported that there isn't any impact and the next day 30 tractors, dump trucks and cement pumps show up.

Since we pay thousands for a Disney vacation that takes us away to a wonderful place, I won't risk being in a construction zone so we have removed VWL from our resort rotation until 2019. By then everything will be completed, landscaping established and CM's trained.

And there is no posted or announced schedule. There never is. All permits/notices of commencement go through the end of 2017, which really means anything can happen any time. Given the scope of the work, there is no reason to think they ease it back over the holidays -- and given the nature of construction, holidays in Florida are some of the best time of year for construction, due to the cooler weather!

I think the impact of the construction depends a lot on the individual vacation plans. Do you plan on spending a lot of time at the resort, wandering the grounds? Then you will see a lot of construction effects though the main pool and resort amenities will not be impacted very much.

If you don't think you will be at VWL all that much during the day, then the impact will not be all that much.

And if you stay on the bus stop side of the building, you won't see the construction at all from your room.

It is a major construction project but whether it is a big deal or not is really up to the individual.

We stayed at VWL for 2 nights a couple of weeks ago. Yes, our view was a major construction zone and it was noisy during the day and they are not even constructing anything yet. But the hotel lobby and common areas were perfectly fine and the room was comfortable and peaceful at night. We even had a perfect view of the water pageant.

I personally would go back in a heartbeat in it's current state. I can't wait to see how it will look when they are totally finished.

I'm with Granny. If even the hint of construction stresses you, then I'd not stay at VWL as it's evident there is major work going on. That being said, we were just there a month ago, and the impact was minimal, even during the day on the few times we were in our room. We were on the lake side, and when behind our closed balcony doors, even with tractors, front-end loaders, and graders, the noise was barely noticeable. Sure, out on the balcony it was a bit noisy, but even then we could carry on a conversation or read a book without bother. The work never began before 8, always ended before 5, and there was no work on the weekend we were there. Beyond that, it's evident construction is going on due to the fencing all around the old Hidden Springs pool area and numerous signs stating construction is ongoing. Despite the construction, the lobby is still magnificent (yes, the south wing is closed but not intrusively so); the majestic music still plays throughout the resort; the smells are intact; the lanterns flicker at night; the crickets chirrup; the main pool and new kids' splash area are wide open; the restaurants and bars still serve good meals and fine libations; and the boats still frequently travel to CR, FW, and MK. I'm one of the most vocal naysayers about the work being done at VWL (not happy about losing the nature trail, the loss of trees, the disappearance of topiaries, et.al.), but I will admit that our stay there was still very relaxing and wonderful despite all that's going on. To echo Granny's sentiments, it's up to the individual. For us, we're glad we stayed at "home."

P.S. As DizBub said of his room, the views of EWP from our room were also superb. . .and very loud! lol
