I'm with Granny. If even the hint of construction stresses you, then I'd not stay at VWL as it's evident there is major work going on. That being said, we were just there a month ago, and the impact was minimal, even during the day on the few times we were in our room. We were on the lake side, and when behind our closed balcony doors, even with tractors, front-end loaders, and graders, the noise was barely noticeable. Sure, out on the balcony it was a bit noisy, but even then we could carry on a conversation or read a book without bother. The work never began before 8, always ended before 5, and there was no work on the weekend we were there. Beyond that, it's evident construction is going on due to the fencing all around the old Hidden Springs pool area and numerous signs stating construction is ongoing. Despite the construction, the lobby is still magnificent (yes, the south wing is closed but not intrusively so); the majestic music still plays throughout the resort; the smells are intact; the lanterns flicker at night; the crickets chirrup; the main pool and new kids' splash area are wide open; the restaurants and bars still serve good meals and fine libations; and the boats still frequently travel to CR, FW, and MK. I'm one of the most vocal naysayers about the work being done at VWL (not happy about losing the nature trail, the loss of trees, the disappearance of topiaries, et.al.), but I will admit that our stay there was still very relaxing and wonderful despite all that's going on. To echo Granny's sentiments, it's up to the individual. For us, we're glad we stayed at "home."
P.S. As DizBub said of his room, the views of EWP from our room were also superb. . .and very loud! lol
