Recent experiences with Von's Grocery Delivery?

Trying to decide if it would be more convenient to do a grocery store stop on the way to the hotel or just do delivery with Von's. We have young children and will need several items such as diapers, milk, snacks, fruit, etc. Our driver will allow a short grocery store stop, but I'm concerned it will take too long in an unfamiliar store. I know myself, and I'll be stressed!

Does anyone have recent experience with Von's delivering to the resort hotels, particularly PPH? First experience at GCH was great...the front desk took the delivery and stored it (cold items were refrigerated) until we called to have it sent up to our room later in the day. Second experience at the DLH was strange...driver called me directly before arriving and said he needed to meet me at the front of the hotel, and I had to sign for the items myself and ended up carrying them up to my room myself because no one was available to help right at that moment. We didn't have alcohol either time.

I'd rather not repeat experience #2. I see from a search on the boards that experiences are mixed and can be dependent on the delivery drivers as well as the hotel staff. Just wondering if anyone has had any recent experiences positive or negative before I place my order. :) Thanks!

We had a great experience (although it was last December... doesn't seem that long ago!)
We stayed off-site (Ramada Maingate) and they were delivered and placed in our room for us before we even checked in!

We had an experience similar to yours (driver refused to deliver without us being there in person) in August. We did have alcohol, but that didn't seem to be the reason as it wasn't mentioned by the driver and the front desk clerk at the Grand said they would have signed for it on our behalf if the driver had told them that was the reason. In addition, the bellman at the Grand told us this particular driver said they weren't delivering to guests at all anymore who weren't present. The bellman said it happened a couple of times the week we were there.

That is interesting because we have always been told alcohol would be the reason they can't sign for the order.

We have done Vons deliveries a few times, to all 3 onsite hotels and never has a huge problem (the GCH misplaced or forgot they had accepted our order when we asked, but Vons showed it delivered, so some confusion for awhile). We've never had alcohol in our order due to the problem mentioned above, but all 3 hotels have signed for and stored (including perishables) our grocery delivery for us. We have another delivery placed for next week at the DLH.

:thumbsup2 So glad I did a search as I was going to start a thread. Is the delivery list limited? What about produce? Did they do a good job first with choosing then with delivery as far as not smashing things? I'll need bread/rolls, fruit, and a few meat items as far as perishables.

Thanks!

We haven't had the best of luck with produce. For some reason, whatever we order is always out of stock at delivery. Bananas seem to be safe and they do a good job of picking those. It's all bagged well, so I don't worry about that. They have a pretty extensive list. I'd log on and poke around so you can see.

Thanks! I looked around and other than everything being more expensive than here, Utah, the selection looks good. I worry about bread, meat, and produce though. Looks like I may shop for myself. We used a private shopping service in WDW where they'd take super specifics and shop for us and deliver it. Love that service. Wish there was something like that near Disneyland but understand it's a more of a locals destination than WDW is. The nearest grocery store is just a few miles away tops.
