Just curious about the recent change to the Castaway Club reception offerings(May 2017). I was disappointed to read that when DCL announced the changes to the Castaway Club offerings, they removed the benefit of the Castaway Club reception for gold and platinum cruisers. (Well, they are offering it on 8+night sailings, so they essentially are taking it away for almost everyone. Out of all of the sailings available to book, there will be 14 receptions total - so it gives one the vibe that DCL really wants to do away with the receptions.)

To read more about the changes, Scott has a great post here:

I emailed DCL to express my disappointment. Perhaps if enough of us do so, they will reverse it. (I recall that so many of us emailed about the "All Hands on Deck cheese plate" disappearing from the menu and in very short order, it reappeared.)

My family hasn't experienced a Castaway Club reception yet, since we are just coming up on our 5th cruise, but we were looking forward to it once we complete this sailing. I know it's not much, but we were looking forward to the short meet & greet and rice krispie treats. Seems like a small, but nice thing to do for repeat cruisers - and likewise, such a small, but nice thing - so why would DCL take it away?

So I'm just curious if this 8+night policy is in place right now. Can any recent cruisers report if you had a Castaway Reception? If so, how many nights did you sail?

Also, if you wish to email DCL about this, here's there email address:
DCL.guest.communications@disneycruise.com

Thanks :)

Here's a recent thread about it:

Thanks PrincessShmoo! I thought I read info on here - and it was from the thread that you linked. It seems the reports are conflicting. A few cruisers had the reception in early May, but one reported no reception on a 7N cruise on 5/20.

I'd love to hear what others are experiencing in the upcoming months. I sure hope DCL decides to offer the receptions on at least 7+night cruises - or go back to 4+night cruises as they did in the past.

Thanks again! :-)

I think adding them back to the 7 night cruises would be nice. Less than 7 nights, it's just one more thing you have to cram into a short time span. But, 7 night cruises would put the reception within more people's reach, since not everyone can/wants to do the longer cruises.
