Recent BOG reviews?

First let me say this is my first post. I read the DW and DCL forums daily.

Obviously BOG is a hot commodity for dining reservations and my family has a dinner reservation in June. Recently I noticed a menu change (I'm a little disappointed, I loved the Thyme scented pork chop and au gratin macaroni) and was wondering if anyone who has eaten at BOG recently could share their thoughts on the menu. Recommendations, etc.

I've noticed that the menu changes from time to time almost seasonally, we eat there in September and every time I think i know what I want to order the menu changes just a little bit lol I would like to see some recent reviews too

We had a lovely meal there in April. They were running about fifteen minutes behind in their reservations and we had arrived about ten minutes early, so we had to wait 25 minutes outside the castle.

Once we were inside, the food and service were very good. Our server was efficient and professional. (We had a server in February who was neither efficient nor professional. She completely forgot to bring bread altogether, and she spoke very, (How do I say it nicely?) casually. More like a fast food employee than I would expect).

Our favorite thing of all was the potato leek soup. We have had it before at lunch, but somehow it seemed thicker and creamier at dinner. Could have just been that we were really hungry.

The Ratatouille and the Shrimp and Scallops are wonderful, although they changed the Shrimp and Scallops a bit from our previous visit. It is no longer served in the pastry shell. It is served in a bowl and a pastry triangle comes with it. The sauce is delicious, though we preferred the previous preparation.

My children had the kids fish and the kids steak and both were delicious. Good values for the food quality and amount, and the kids get drinks and dessert.

I do not particularly like the dessert offerings because I am not a big fan of cupcakes or cream puffs so I did not order dessert. The kids each got a cupcake- one strawberry, one lemon. The cupcakes are small but moist and tasty. I really like the lemon cupcake, but the meringue topping on the lemon cupcake is not as good as the icing on the strawberry cupcake.

We managed to secure a 12/30 reservation in 2014. I can't remember if this was the first Christmas or second that it was opened.

We loved it. My mom, sister and I all went with the seafood dish in the puff pastry. The puff pastry was the same that they now serve with breakfast. It was amazing. So much so, that we went again this past year.

We weren't as impressed. The portions were big and our server was probably the best of the trip (not counting Artist Point). We were disappointed to see that the menu had changed and our favorite dish was different. They definitely gave less seafood and rather than serve it inside the puff pastry, they gave a pastry on the side. Not nearly as fun or attractive of a dish.

It's good food and worth trying for the ambiance and theming alone. But we're far less ecstatic to return than we were in 2014. We instilled a new rule - we won't dine at any restaurant more than two consecutive trips. This helps us try new things and experience new restaurants. We did it last year with Narcoossee's and we'll do it again this year with BOG. It's not nearly as painful to let this one go.
