Reccomendation on Travel Packages

Hi All,

I'm hoping to get some good advice from some experts here - I discussed this elsehwere but it was reccomended that I ask here. I've been to Disney MANY times, but I usually always drove there, since I was on the east coast. Now, being on the west coast, we'll need to fly.

As such, I want to ensure I'm not missing out on any package deals. We're looking to go in early January 2011 and our preference is to stay on Disney property. We'd prefer a moderate resort, but a Value is ok too if it's simply a great savings.

I've noticed there appears to be 3 specials which may apply to us during our trip (free dining, hotel room discount, or gift card). What is typically a better way to save money if you want to stay on property? Book your vacation package with Disney and use the best promo you can find? Or, try to find some Airfare + Hotel + Ticket combo somewhere?

If it's the latter, where are the best places to look?

Before I drop at least a thousand bucks on airfare, I want to ensure I'm not missing out on some better deal.

I don't think that I have EVER read about an on-property deal including airfare that was a good deal.

I would and have always booked airfare separately and directly with the air providers web site.

I agree with this. I don't believe disney sell any rooms at a discount to resellers.

I would see what disney is offering for Magic Your Way packages. And do the flight yourself.

The only way to do otherwise and save is to stay at the Swan or Dolphin and pay for transport to and from the hotel.
