Hi there!

I used to be a Dis junkie years ago and rented points twice to stay at the Boardwalk Villas.

It's been a LONG time so I was hoping someone could refresh my memory on how I go about doing this now?

We're looking to go for a Friday to Sunday next spring (probably March), stay in the BWV in a studio.

Here are my ?s:

-how far in advance should I try to rent points?
-how difficult do you think it will be to get a reservation?
-is there any way of validating the person that we're renting from? Or is it really "rent at your own risk"

I know that we're REALLY early-- but we're getting married and going on our honeymoon in November, and I'm afraid that with all of the wedding hype that I won't have time to book a reservation and we'll end up being too late if I wait until after we come back (will be thanksgiving week) to get started!

Thanks for your help!

March can be difficult because this is generally spring break month, so it can be busy. That being said you may want to book beofer the 7 month mark just to make sure you get what you want. But I am not saying that if you wait beyond that you won't get in. As far as validating the person, well I think the only way to do that is to check the posts by the potential renter, the more the better. But it still can be looked at renter at your own risk...just ask a lot of questions and get confortable.

For the process there are sticky notes on the rent and trade forum that can answer questions that you may have or may eventually have.

If you are thinking about two nights - Fri and Sat - those nights are much higher than Sun through Thur and you might pay as much by renting a DVC reservation as you would by getting a reservation directly from Disney. You will need 28-32 points per night for a BWV studio (28 for standard - you'll need to make that reservation next month; 32 for preferred). So if you can get the points for $12 a point, you are looking at $768 for the two nights.

Only the member you rent from can contact Member Services and you will not be able to confirm your reservation with MS for any reason. The member will need to add dining plan, Magical Express, etc for you since you will not be able to do that. You will be able to make your own reservations for dining, but not add the dining plan if you want it. You'll purchase your own tickets.

Magical Express = Disney picks you up at the airport and brings you to the resort and back again to the airport. No extra cost.
