Rebooking onboard & credit?

Has anyone rebooked onboard, and gotten a stateroom credit for the future cruise?? Does anyone know how much it is?? $100 or $200 for the 3 and 4 days??

Depends on what you're booking...
It is $200 per room for a 7 day.
I think it is $100 for a 3 or 4 day.
They did even offer a $400 for the 7 day special itinerary later this year.
Right now they also give you a 10% discount on the cost of the cruise on top of the obc.

Do you have to rebook for the following year, or could you do two years out?? Not sure we'd be able to afford to go again the following year.

You can book as far as they're taking reservations for.
You can also book for something as far out as you can get, and then transfer your onboard credit over to the date you want.

You can also transfer your reservation over to a travel agent who will probably give you a better rate than DCL.
I use All Seasons travel, and some use Dreams Unlimited who sponsor this board. Both will generally better the rate and/or give you additional onboard credits.

Thanks Grumbo!!! We used DU on our first cruise coming up and was almost $300 cheaper than DCL. That would be cool to save that much.

remember, you can also book for as far out as Disney is currently booking, to get the onboard credit. Then, if you want a later date, you can change your reservation as soon as the dates become available, and keep your onboard credit. This is what friends of ours did...we sailed in July 2002, and they wanted to sail again this June, but DCL was only booking through April, so they booked that, and then when June opened up, they just changed their date. I did exactly what KRHardy writes of.

We wanted to book on board for Xmas 2005 on the Xmas 2003 cruise.

They only went to April 2005 so we booked Easter 2005 (Sme type of peak period) and got the 10% off and $200/room credit. (We booked two rooms so BIG savings).

Then Moved it to AAA during their cruise sail month and got another $100 off total.

Then moved it to Xmas 2005 when the dates opened in late Feb.

My xmas 2005 cruise will cost over $1,000 less than the Xmas 2003 cruise!!!!

The sales person on board was great at working with me (and the five other families to do exactly this.

Tera- not only do they not charge you to change, other TA's will sometimes offer you a rebate on top of the 10% discount and room credit that you get from DCL for rebooking while onboard....Mark

That's great information, thanks Mark. I didn't think we had a chance of rebooking since this trip will take a year of saving, but I think with saving that much money, we might have to just go for it. I would love to do the 7 day Eastern since we're doing the 7 day Western this time.

We just got off the 3/27 and booked for 11/05. The rate was cheaper than the trip we got off and is the same itinerary. Do most of you use a local travel agent?? I see some of the online companies offer cruise deals, but not sure how it all works with a switch. Any help on this beyond what has been posted would be appreciated.

bhawks9- First of all, did you ask for any specific TA to handle your ressie or is it still with DCL? If you kept it with DCL, this is good! Now you can further shop around for additional savings. Since you already received your discount and stateroom credit you should now try for further savings. Some TA's offer you an additional rebate to your existing ressie. The sponsor of these boards, DreamsUnlimited post their rebates and the TA I used AllSeasons offered to match it. There are links for DreamsUnlimited on the main board page and AllSeason's link is www.allseastravel.com . Both companys will gladly allow you to transfer you ressie from DCL to them and will allow to to keep your on board deals as well as add an additional rebate....Mark

I think I must be doing something wrong. We did the four day
cruise in Jan. While on board I booked a cruise for next year
for Jan of 05. I did not request a TA. I forget what benefit they were offering, I think it was 10% off.

When I came home I called allseas travel and asked about switching to them, they said they could not honnor the 10% but there rates might be lower anyway. So I left my reservation with
DCL.

I called DCL to switch over from a 7 day cruise to a 7 day land and sea and they said no discount but I would get $200 onboard
credit.

What am I doing wrong here? Can you experts advise?

wintermom-If you change the type of cruise, you might lose your 10% discount and stateroom credit. If you are just reassigning your ressie from DCL to another TA, like AllSeasons, they will honor any price and discount and credit that you receive from DCL. They will even go as far as matching any additional savings like a rebate offer to further lower your cost. If you check out AllSeasons site, www.allseastravel.com you can see their prices for yourself. They or DreamsUnlimited will gladly take over your DCL ressie and give you an additional rebate for doing so, your stateroom credit and 10% discount should not be affected. Which 7 day Jan. 05 cruise are you going on? We're doing Jan. 15th, Western....Mark
