Hi,

We are currently booked on the April 6 2020 cruise on the Disney Magic, but I’m thinking of switching to the Fantasy Jan 4-11 2020. It would be a Star Wars day at Sea Cruise which my twin 11 year old boys would love. I originally picked the Magic because I wanted to meet Rapunzel. If I switched to the Fantasy - do you still get to meet Rapunzel? Need some advice please!

She is usually part of the Princess M&G :).

Yes, but it does depend on the current entertainment team and if there is anyone who meets the qualifications to be friends with Rapunzel. The Magic, with Rapunzel’s Royal Table will always have a qualified team member (like the Wonder will always have a Tiana), but she is not guaranteed on the other ships for meet and greets. Likely, but not a guarantee.

(Also there is usually only one friend per M&G face character, so if that friend gets sick or injured and quarantined to her cabin, she would not be out for greetings.)

I would absolutely switch to do something the kids would love. In 5-6 years they'll be driving and this magical age to do these things will be long gone. You can meet Rapunzel any time.

The only negative about sailing in Jan/Feb is that Castaway Cay might be chilly. We lucked out our 1st Disney cruise and had great weather in early Feb (2007) but the crew told us it was cold the previous week.

With the fantasy, you are sailing out of port canaveral, so you could drive to to the Boardwalk at WDW and have a character breakfast with Rapunzel at Trattoria al Forno the morning of the cruise. Best of both worlds :D

I have never seen rapunzel on any ship but the magic including princess gatherings.

You are talking about a 5 night cruise on Disney’s oldest ship. Or a 7 night cruise on Disney’s newest ship. Seems like a no brainer to me.
I like the older ships thou I have a couple cruises booked and they are on the older ships.

It depends what you like. We prefer the older ships because they're smaller and it's way less crowded. This is most noticeable at Cabanas, Castaway Cay and the WD Theater. For us, newer doesn't equate to better.

You lost me at the moment you compared a SWDAS cruise versus wanting to meet a lady who is employed by Disney Cruise Line to play the Rapunzel character.

Now, if we were talking about a cruise that had Marie from the Aristocats, that would be different. My cat obsessed wife has rearranged our days at WDW to get photos with Marie. However, that is different because you get a picture with the real Marie. ;)

She was on our 4 night Disney Dream cruise in 2015, I have the photos. Individual meet and greet in the atrium/lobby [off to the side on the hard floor against one of the walls].

Just off the Fantasy there where random characters not on a published schedule around the ship. We saw Thor and Dr Strange. Nice surprises.

Just for information: We did the SWDAS this past January. I like Star Wars, but don't LOVE Star Wars...and it was the BEST cruise! SO MANY characters (most whose names will forever elude me..but they're there!) Imperial guard, Storm Troopers, Boba Fett (see, I'm not completely void of SW knowledge.) ...and all the biggies like Chewie,, Darth, R2D2 & C3PO. Truly a great time! :darth::chewy:

We are considering doing a day or two at WDW beforehand - I did not know about a character breakfast with Rapunzel! I’ll check it out. Thank you!!

Haha each to their own!
