Rebook, book an extra day, or wait and see

So it’s still early in the game but we’d like to go at least from 11/2 2020-11/9. We booked a standard room at all stars movies for that week but then my parents mentioned they’d take my daughter for a day so we could take my son to universal, the problem is, I need a rest day. We have 5 Park day tickets (I won’t buy tickets for our travel days, to much going on) and one day in the middle for a rest. So if we take our son to universal we have to stay one more night. We called to see if we could book an 8 night stay at movies but that isn’t possible, just 7 nights and then a separate booking for the next night so our dining plan wouldn’t carry through and we may have to change rooms for that one night. Our options are
-cancel at all star movies and book a standard room at all stars music (my kids want to stay at a notably disney hotel. They liked pop but requested a hotel much more “Disney” so I feel music may be a little let down for them) also, we like the room upgraded of movies and we risk not getting an upgraded room with music
-book a standard room at all star movies for the extra night (11/9-11/10) and possibly have to change rooms and dining plan doesn’t carry through.
-wait until we get closer to our vacation date and check every so often. I also have a standard room only booking for my parents right now at movies for 11/2-11/9 so I’d have to try to change their reservation as well.

Book the extra night separately despite the risk of having to change rooms. It's sometimes difficult to drop nights.

Is the final night available separately? If so, call back and request for them to book all the nights together. If the nights are available separately, then Disney can book them together.

The CM told you that wasn't possible because a computer algorithm in Disney's booking system wasn't letting him/her book it automatically. A Guest Services CM can bypass that setting & get all the nights booked as one reservation. I have done this before myself. You have to speak to a CM who is knowledgeable enough to know to contact Guest Services & have them do this for you (not all phone reservations CMs are knowledgeable enough to know to call Guest Services for this- their competence varies widely).

Just call back until you reach a CM who will do this for you. It absolutely can be done if all of the nights are available separately. Check online to ensure that the separate nights are all available, first, then tell the CM you need them booked together as one reservation. Guest Services might need to cancel & rebook to get this for you, but as I said, they can get you the full reservation.

I agree that this can be done.

For our upcoming trip, free dining was available to be booked at Pop for the first 4 nights and last 4 nights separately but not as an 8 night reservation. I went ahead and booked both (didn’t want to risk losing the availability!) and they were able to combine the two 4 night reservations into one 8 night reservation.

Thanks I’m trying to get ahold of Disney reservations now. It’s a long wait on hold so *sigh*

Very frustrated after being on hold for after over half an hour I was told they couldnt extend our stay one night...either with us flying in on 11/1 or leaving on 11/10 I'm feeling so frustrated. All they keep saying is I should book an extra separate night and well move rooms or look at other value resorts

As long as the room types are the same, there is very little chance you will have to move. There is not much chance Disney will make you move to a clean room, only to have to fully clean the one you are leaving for someone else. You can call & have the reservations noted as “continuing” & request to stay in the same room. Some posters have reported calling & getting guest services to merge the reservations into 1. Or make sure you stop at the desk when you first check in & make sure the continuing stay is noted & ask about staying in the same room. You will have to check in for the 2nd stay, but that shouldn’t be a problem either.

Last April, we had a 1 night stay followed by a 6 night stay at YC. The CM who first checked us in completed everything for both stays, told me right up front we’d be staying in the same room & I didn’t need to do anything the next day.

If the dining plan is important, you can book a ticketless package for the single night & add the dining plan. Out of pocket might be cheaper & you might be sick of all the food by then anyway.

Also a thing to remember (especially if you're going off to universal for a day) is I'm pretty sure that the credits expire on midnight of check out day so you might be able to stretch the credits to midnight on check in day for the one night reservation.

We’re splitting the dining plan with my parents so I just wanted to extend it. How do you book a ticketless package? Do you have to book over the phone? We were also talking about 1 night at a family suite at art of animation, do the tickets correspond to when you check in (like all our ex are on movies right now, if we fly in on 11/1 to stay at AOA and want to go to magic kingdom on 11/2 before we check into movies is that possible or are tickets required to be on AoA) can I schedule an appointment at BBB without having tickets on AOA reserve? If we do the AOA stay we would probably go to universal the first day the dis parks the subsequent days because we wouldn’t *need* the dining plan that day or two...idk just trying to figure out logistics. It’s so hard to plan and make everyone happy, someone is almost always disappointed (we’re thinking AOA because it’s been requested by all the family members. It works out to be $50 cheaper booking one night at AOA rather than a preferred room the entire 8 nights at movies)

Ticketless package: Yes, you need to call.

Ticket validity: see the tickets thread pinned on the Theme Parks Advice and Strategies forum.

Book separately; and when you check in tell them you have a continuing reservation. I’ve done this several times &, so far, haven’t had to change rooms!
