Rebel XT Question

I have a regular film EOS Rebel, that I never use, and I am seriously considering getting a Digital Rebel XT for two main reasons.

1. Manual Focus (something I can't really do using my Kodak Z740)
2. Upgradable

Which brings me to my question, can a lens on the EOS Rebel be used on the Digital Rebel XT?

That's the reason that I bought the Rebel XT b/c the lenses that I used on my film rebel would fit on the XT.
