Rebate Processer - Good extra income or complete scam?

I came across a work-from-home opportunity today, and usually I am really sceptical of any website with the bold colorful lettering that just continues to scroll down the page - followed by graphs and pictures of successful people and all the money they have made. I never have fallen for any of these things - but recently have become more interested in earning some extra income by working at home on my days off. I'm not looking to get rich quick or pay for anything big - just finding something to do with the time I'm at home and don't have freelance projects to work on (I'm a graphic designer, but the workload varies, and I can go for a couple weeks without any new projects).

Has anyone out there heard about this rebate processing job? Have I lost it just by even considering it? Is it a scam like all the rest of those jobs, where I'll invest all this time, and a little money and get nothing out of it?

I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything about this type of job specifically. Please be kind! Just looking to the awesome DISers for a little push in the right direction.

I use survey sites you actually do not get paid, but you can get some neat gifts/prizes. I get borders gift certificates and magazines One good one is called e rewards.

I had a friend who did work for a legitimate company- she entered the rebates from Costco. But it was a lot of work for not much money, especially at the start. She said as you got used to the format and got a rythm going it got easier. They paid her per "envelope" and she had to drive down and pick up the envelopes and then drive everything back when she was done, so by the time you added up the time and gas money spent, it wasn't much. Some people would work out carpools, but still...
