Reassure Me!!!

I just booked a standard room at AKL for $290.00 using my AAA discount for late March. I know this is terrible!! I always use codes but I just missed the one that came out. This is over 120.00 more than what I paid for my Savannah view last time. I feel very blessed to be able to go, I just feel sick over paying this. I am hoping I may be able to pay a little extra when I get there and upgrade to Savannah if it is available. Does anyone else besides me pay this high rate. I guess I just feel like a sucker! Thanks for any kind words.

Do you not have a Disney Visa? There is a new code out... I just booked Savannah View for less than that. There is also much chatter about AP rates coming out.

The new code is not for the dates I will be there, but thanks for the info. I don't have an AP and have been thinking about getting one, but we have already been to Disney 4 times in the last year, so I don't think we will be going much again for a while.

Why don't you stay at one of the Downtown Disney resorts this time? You say you've been there 4 times already this year so it may be OK to stay offsite this time and not miss "the magic". Mousesavers has a great rate of $69 for a Tower room at Hotel Royal Plaza.

Personally I do not think I could enjoy my vacation if I felt "sick" because I paid too much for the room.

But then again, I am contemplating staying at AKL next trip and hoping for an AP rate of $109 like it was last year and THAT price is making ME sick. Normally we stay at the Moderates or All Stars.

I have to agree with Maggie. I wouldn't be able to enjoy my trip if I felt sick about the price of my hotel. If you plan on spending a large part (majority) of your trip at the hotel, maybe you could stomach the price better. But if you're like me, you'll be enjoying the parks most of the time. If that's the case, I'd save a few bucks and stay elsewhere. You can still stay on site (as you know) pretty reasonably!!

Thanks for all the replies. Actually, we are only doing the Animal Kingdom park and will be at the resort most of the time. I am feeling better now though. I am visiting my Dad for some of the time we are there so I won't have to pay for a hotel for part of my visit so if I figure that in it doesn't seem so bad.

I think you should just forget your rate
You are going to be in a fabulous resort, with ideal proximity to the park you're visiting. You are going to be able to soak up the wonderful atmosphere and make good use of the Lodge's theming, activities, restaurants, etc. The positives are going to outweigh the negatives. Just forget how much it costs (this time!)

Thankyou JonSonet!!! That is what I wanted to hear. You are absolutely correct and that is what I am going to do.
The reason for only one park is we are not going to be there long and wanted to keep a nature theme to the trip. We homeschool our kids and we are studying the management and upkeep of zoos so this fits in perfect with our academics. This will be our fourth trip this year and I know it is undisney of me but I am a little tired of all the rushing around and hustle and bustle. I usually love it, but I am looking forward to a more relaxing time.

wow 4th time this year and you dont have aps?? i think you should have aps my dear......i agree though....if your trip is short and sweet then you should make it what you want it..and akl is what you want it..then so be it..you are gonna have a great time..dont worry about the rate....what a wonderful place to be able to stay.........disney is all about fun...magical times....your family...so dont you worry.....have a great trip!!!

Yes, AP's would make sense, except all those trips were last minute unplanned trips. We keep saying we won't go again and keep ending up there!! Funny how that works. I have decided I am going to enjoy AKL with no thought of the rate I am paying. I am going to see if I can get a late checkout too.

Good for you! You know exactly what you want out of this vacation, and you know that you'll get it at AKL. That's what matters. You are going to have a great time relaxing in such a beautiful resort, and I can't think of a better place to study the management and upkeep of zoos than AK and AKL!

When we go to WDW often, we have a tendancy to think that we have to get "the best deal ever" for every single trip. But that's just not true. You got the best deal you could under the circumstances for this trip, and you're going to have a great time. That's what really matters.
