Reassure me about Bonnet Creek...

We've rented a 2BR unit at Bonnet Creek from an owner. Our trip is coming up in July and we've never stayed off site. I'm feeling a bit worried about the "unknown". Can anyone give me any tips, info, reassurrances about Bonnet Creek? Do I need to ask for a particular building/unit number at check in? Should I plan on driving to the parks or using the buses? :)

Thanks,
Kat

I've never stayed or visited Bonnett Creek but it is/was a Fairfield resort (Wyndham now I think) and I've toured several Fairfield resorts. They were really nice. The first year we stayed at Westgate I was nervous because I had read some bad reviews....but we love it and have gone back to the same place for 4 years now. I can't imagine now having to spend a whole week in a cramped little hotel room for the same price or more. The resort give the kids room to play and they always have lots of other activities and things to do.

If I were you I wouldn't worry about it. The staff at the resort (timeshare properties) have always been eager to help or fix any problems we have encountered. If your asked if you want to do the sales presentation though I'd skip it if I were you.......unless you are interested in buying, it's a huge waste of time (if you are already on a pretty tight schedule like we are when at Disney) and the 90 minutes usually is more like 120.

Bonnet Creek has a lake that is surrounded by six buildings which are referred to as "Village Building" and Buildings #1 thru #5. Each building has units that have certain "views". There are basically 3 views available: Lake view, Epcot fireworks view and parking lot view. Some of these views can be a combination of views, with the most desirable one being a "Lakeview/Fireworks view" unit. These would be units that face north-northwest in the buildings on the south side of the lake.

I am using my Bonnet Creek timeshare for the first time in August. When I made my reservation (by telephone), I requested a "lakeview with Epcot fireworks view", and also which building I would be in. I was not given a specific unit or floor, but I was assured that I would get the view and the building that I had requested. I don't know if they do this for everyone or if it's just because I have VIP benefits.

I shall see if this true when I go there in August.

I have stayed at Bonnet Creek 3 times in a 2, 3 and 4 bedroom. We love, love, love having all of the space. The pools are pretty good units are nice, especially the 4 bedroom, everthing is almost brand new which is nice.

One thing they could offer is more food options.

I put in requests (pool view) with the owner and she gave them to Bonnet Creek ahead of time, my understanding is rooms are mainly assigned prior to arrival. We have never been dissapointed, and would stay here again in a second. Only place I have stayed onsite is the Polynesian and would probably pice Bonnet Creek over the Polynesian due to the extra space.

Katnmouse..when are you going in July? I am going July 18- Aug 1! I have never been and I can't wait to go!!! I have heard nothing but good things about it!!!:cool1:

Just left there on Sat. We've stayed there a few times with plans again for Sept. I would be surprised if you did not like it. Lots of activities for the kids(some cost-some don't), nice pools & grounds. Beware of taking the tour, high pressure sales people. We are also DVC members & find BC decor to beat any of the DVC resorts.
I would plan on driving, but I have never used their trans. It is an easy drive to any park.
BTW-lots of construction going on right now, stay away from building #3. Have a great trip.

We loved the accomodations there and are staying again in July. I'd say steer clear of the tour. If you want to be close to the main pool/shuttle stop, request buildings 1,2, or 3, but there is a second pool by the other buildings. We were in one of the last buildings, # 5 I think, and it had a great view of the fireworks from the Pres. Suite!

I wouldn't stay there without a car, but we did take the shuttle to the parks and then took a cab back. They have return shuttles, but our timing never worked out. We last stayed in Dec. 2006. I heard they have improved the shuttle service.

Anybody who has stayed there recently have a shuttle schedule?

I also just got back from staying 6 days at Bonnett Creek. It was a beautiful rsort. I used the shuttle to go and come back from the disney park. The shuttle was on time taking us and picking us up. We drove to Typhoon laggon because it's so close to bonnett creek and they don't charge for parking there. Also i recommend a car also. Go to wal-mart to get groceries or Winn Dixie. there is a grocery store at the Crossroads plaza that is very expensive. $5 for a bag of chips, $2 for a two litter of pop. Avoid that. one. The rooms are very spacious we had a pool view in the main building. Full kitchen, balcony, flat screen tv's and stereo. Would definately stay here again.

were deeded for bonnet creek and we bought it when we were on our honeymoon we loved it then and we still do now we stayed there a few different times and were going down in aug for two weeks. ive never been down without a car.... i know they have transportation but i dont know that much about it. they have different activities for adults and kids and the water playground is great both of my kids really likes that and the lazy river(dd9 and dd4). the thing i like the most is that your about 5 mins away from mk and 7 away from epcot and your one the same road as downtown disney. everyone has always been friendly and i always go shopping(for food) when we get down there(easier and cost less to eat there then at the parks all the time) i hope you have a great time :beach:

I'm staying in the 4 bedroom in December. Do you happen to have any pictures of the room? I'm not quite sure what to expect from it... Thanks!

I was just speaking to th person I am renting from and he was mentioning that he has some 3 or 4 night and 1 week in July end of I think available. He is renting a 2 bdr for $149 a night...that is a good price. Anyone is interested PM me.

Friends of ours were staying there when we were at BWI, and I must say I was more impressed with Bonnet Creek than ANY WDW Deluxe resort! It is beautiful!

anyone who stayed there

how is the internet access?

know they have computers that guests can use in the checkin area, but do they have free wifi or lan in the rooms ( all i could find says they have dialup internet access )

We're going July 19-26 and looking forward to getting our annual Disney fix. This is our first time to stay off property but we were able to get such a wonderful deal on a unit at Bonnet Creek that we just couldn't justify the added cost to be officially "on" property this year. I've never driven to the parks, but that's not really a big deal. As a matter of fact, it will be pretty nice to not have to wait around to catch an overcrowded bus full of sweaty exhausted people. I'm really looking forward to it...only a few weeks to go :cool1: .

Free in room service and a computer room for guests in lobby.

We are here right now...I'm using my free internet! It is absolutely wonderful...you will not be disappointed and not sorry at all that you are not at a "Disney" resort. We are staying 13 nights, and this is our 12th night. We are in building 2, ground floor, lake view (actually right outside of the pool). A mother duck and her 2 baby ducks come to our patio almost everyday, and my kids often feed them (even though we probably shouldn't!). The staff has been great, and the resort is beautiful. It has a Tuscan theme, which I just love. The villas are bigger than the DVC ones...we stayed at Boardwalk Villas last year. We got a fabulous deal from an owner, and could not justify paying triple the price to stay at a Disney DVC. We are literally just a few minutes from DHS, Typhoon Lagoon and DTD. MK and AK are maybe 7-10 minutes? The Caribbean Beach resort is right beside us, you can see the tops of their bldgs from here. And no Disney resort offers ALL of the pool amenities Bonnet Creek does...lazy river, zero-depth entry, pool slide, water spray area for kids, hot tubs, kiddie pool, live pool entertainment, etc. I'm sold!:goodvibes

How do you find owners that will sell you their week? If I could get a unit for around $ 1,000, I'd jump at it. I did get an online offer from Wyndham, offering 3 days/2 nights for $ 199, but you have to take a tour. I have taken enough tours that I have no problem saying no. Just telling them that I can buy a resale unit for under $ 3,000 is a big chip in my corner...they have trouble justifying why I'd want to pay them $ 10,000+ for something similar.

Anyone else get the online offer from Wyndham ???? And I wonder if President's Day Week will be blacked out, and they won't offer this rate at that time.

Any input ???

$1000 might be a bit low. President's Week is prime season for Bonnet Creek, and requires the maximum number of points to book. Even VIP owners might not get that week at a discount, because the week might well book up before the 60-day discount period opens.

$1000 wouldn't even cover my costs for a 2BR week during Prime season. But, check redweek, you never know. I sometimes see units go up for rent there low enough that the owner is just hoping not to lose everything.

Also, be aware that Wyndham usually doesn't put up tour guests in the resort itself. Instead, tour guests are put in a "nice" hotel. That makes it easier for the sales person to demonstrate the value of ownership by comparing "just a hotel room" with the timeshare unit.

Just wondering if you've ran into the duck that looks like a turkey? My kids would run out of their way to avoid that thing, it is really ugly & scarey:lmao:
