REAS and dining times

I know that you can request a dining rotation with REAS, but does anyone know if it gives you an advantage when trying to change dining times. We are currently slated for late dining and are on a waiting list for early dining. I am thinking of getting the REAS option and am just wondering if this is another benefit.
