Really Worried About Our Budget!! HELP!!

Our trick is to cut cost with all the things we don't care about so we can do the things we really want to do. Travel cost can be kept down by choosing cheap but clean motels. Check to see if you can get any kind of discounts. Watch gas prices as you travel and fill up anytime you see a lower price. Avoid fast food that you don't really care about by packing a cooler for the road. Sandwiches, fruit etc. Have breakfast in your rooms most day. Be careful however , buying all the "specail" foods for these things can add up fast. Stick to ceral, fruit etc.
Eat smart at counter services. WE consider these meals being fed rather that the "experence" of sit down places. Share meals, drinks etc. Order less and then get more if your are still hungry to avoid waste. Carry small snacks into the parks to avoid the "I wants" every hour. Budget for ice cream a few time and require the kids to use thier own money for extra snacks. Cuts way back on the wants.

If you still need to cut, my choice would be WCC, not great food. I would also cut the priate cruse and horse ride if you have too. As I said, we try to cut what we don't care about to do what we want.

Good Morning everyone. It's a beautiful day here in the Delta!
I have really enjoyed reading these tips. I especially loved the gas calculator, and didn't know it existed even though I am a member of AAA! I really need to keep up on those things. Well, for my family, it is a splurge for the room (cabin) onsite and the golf cart, so we cut corners in other places such as per your suggestions. We shop at super Wal Mart for groceries and cook in our cabin. We consider counter service a treat in the parks. We are just always so excited to be there that it seems at the end of the day it didn't really matter what we did or where we ate. I think one of our best trips was years ago offsite at the HIFS. We took a crock pot and kept it filled each day with something good to eat. (I'm not sure that's really allowed and I don't want to get flamed here for that). It seems sometimes the more simply we do things, the more fun they are and the better the memories are. I guess that's my advice for what's it's worth. :)

Lachesis00 you are very welcome for the link to the gas calculator.

I am driving from Mass Memorial Day weekend and I thought it was great. We went in 2002 and drove all the way through so we did not have to stay at a hotel and that saved us some money. It took us 23 hours. Hopefully gas prices won't go up too much more before then.

Although I love the splurge meals as much as anyone. You'll have a car so why not go off-site for a few meals. We have done that several times. It's nice to get a break and the food is good and usually cheaper. There are numerous chain restaurants as well as grocery stores to stock up on water, fruit and snacks. PM me if you need suggestions.

I think you can do it on your budget!!

Good Luck

BTW: We'll be there the same time!

I don't have any suggestions, just wanted to say I'll be there the same time as you two! We are driving from PA the night of the 13th, will arrive the 14th. We have a condo rented offsite, so we will be good on food, pool, hot tub, etc...
Should we all wear lime green ribbons?

LU:tongue:
