OK, this is a question for a friend who just got her son a nano. I'm sure DD and DH absolutely know the answer to this but they're not home. I could probably figure it out myself but DD has her ipod with her and without it, I probably can't see the proper choices in itunes. I did look in Itunes but can't see quickly how to do it.

How do you put the music on the ipod?

Friend has put the software on the computer, downloaded the songs from itunes, plugged in the ipod and charged it etc. she just can't figure out how to get the music from itunes, onto the ipod. I'm sure it's really, really easy but we don't know how to do it and I hate to embarass myself by calling DH at work.

By the way, we do NOT have it set to autosynch(nor do we want it to) for various reasons given to us by DH and DD.

Sorry I do not know the answer to your question. I just wanted to say I have an Ipod sitting right here next to me and I can get it to turn on and it say's what song is playing but I don't hear the music nor can I figure out how to, (the volume is all the way up).
Boy, we really do need our kids sometimes with all this technology. I am lucky I know how to use the Disboards. :rotfl2:

I am not at my computer with iTunes but if I remember correctly you go to File then update iPod.

Once you have downloaded your songs into itunes plug in your ipod and once you see registered on the left side ie: mine says " karens pod" then you drag and drop the songs in with your mouse...super easy. After you drop in the song you will see it loading on top of the page but look quick cause it only takes a second. Good luck. :thumbsup2

I asked her if she tried dragging and dropping because I thought that was the answer. She said she tried to "left click and pull" but it didn't do anything. She then tried right clicking and everything else she could think of. I wasn't there of course but she insists she couldn't "drag and drop".

could you give me idiot proof instructions on how exactly to drag and drop?

I wonder if she actually managed to do it but didn't realize it?

with the pod still attached look in your play list and see if they are there- we area 3 pod family and we have never used auto update, we have 2 minis and a nano- sometimes the songs are there but they loas so quick you don't see them

I just called her and she's checked the ipod, there's nothing on it so she didn't manage to do it.

Some really basic, step-by-step, drop and drag instructions please!

ok- first make sure the song you want in itunes is highlighted- on my computer the line the song is on turns blue once you left click on it, once the song is highlighted then left click on it and hold it down and drag it over to the left side where your ipod is showing under ''SOURCE" ( mine says karens pod) when you do this it looks like nothing is happening and you get a little circle with a line thru it like your computer is telling you it isn't working- once you get right over the line where your pod is showing under source let go of the left mouse button and this '"drops: the song in- this is so simple but difficult to explain by writing it down

Another way instead of dragging/dropping is to right click on it and select copy. then click you you ipod icon. once in your ipod, click edit paste. that should work.

I agree the apple support sight is great. It has helped me do some great things step by step.
