We have reservations at SoG from 7-14 May; however, since we qualify for overflow rates when SoG is filled, I figured I'd call & see what's available.

She told me that all of the Disney hotels are completely booked except for POP, *** and AKL!

I was looking forward to it being not very crowded while we were there, but I'm starting to wonder now... :confused3 Should I be worried?

I don't know that you should be worried but it certainly sounds like it'll be busy. Because of the birthday celebration, this May won't be a peaceful as it usually is. Have a good time anyway! :flower:

I just checked expedia for your dates and every single resort except for POR had full availability. I SOOOOO dont want it to be crowded, we are going the week after you....keeping fingers crossed

Hmmmm...when I checked those dates on Expedia most of the rooms were sold out as well. I will be at SOF 5/8 thru 5/14 and we were lucky enough to get rooms....I would recommend AKL if there are no rooms left at SOG> :flower:

Expedia Lies! LOL. I have tried to book on it when things were full because it shows rooms. You go along, put in your CC # to charge the room and on the next screen where you should get a confirmation number you get "could not confirm, sorry!" So just because you see a room on Expedia doesn't mean you can book it. Most times you can, but every now and then....

What's to be worried about? You will be in Disneyworld. :flower: :flower: Disney is a busy place so just relax, enjoy and go with the flow. Have a great time.

Oh, we have rooms! I was just curious as to what overflow rates were floating around out there, in case we changed our minds about where to stay at the last minute. I do love AKL, though!

Um, okay... I *know* I'll be in Disney World. I also know that three separate families rearranged their schedules especially so that we could go when it's less crowded, we'll have three small children in our party, and life in general would be much easier if it's less crowded as opposed to more crowded.

I'm not sure what your point was here, but whatever... thanks!

If you don't like crowds I would DEFINITELY avoid AKL. That is where the entire media will be staying May 4-6 and I'm sure it will be packed!!! Probably tons of camera crews, reporters, etc.

Gosh! My point was to try and help make you feel better. You are probably at a point where it's too late to change your plans so it would be stressful for you to spend time worrying about it. You asked if you should worry about it and I tried to nicely say no you shouldn't and give you some encouragement.

I'm trying to be nice and basically just say have a good time no matter what and this is what happens.

I know how you feel. I did the same thing, I booked it and will be pulling the kids out of school to go because I felt it would be less crowded. We have planned and planned and then found out about the show.

Theres nothing I can do so I figure I will go with a positive attitute :cool1: and take it as it comes. No sense it letting it ruin your vacation.

This is my first time going and we are very excited so we are going with the expectations of it could be very crowded but we will deal with it.

Good luck! I'm sure it will be fine :cheer2:

Okay, sorry, it came across to me as "you booked the trip, get over it, stop your whining." Sorry, having a tough morning - this single mom gig is getting really old - but I shouldn't have taken it out on you!

You're right - it's too late to change it, and at this point, everything in life is stressful... deep cleansing breaths. Think they'd let me take Lamaze breathing classes even if I'm not pregnant? :earboy2: I'm certainly emotional enough lately to qualify!

No biggie. I have to say I admire all you single moms who take on the challenge of Disney World on your own. Someone in my office just did it. Wow-I don't know if I could.

I really hope you have a great time and make some magical memories with your family.

Oh, I'm not a single mom LOL. Technically I am, since my hubby is overseas for a one-year vacation courtesy of the U.S. Air Force, but not true single mom! I definitely get tired of playing the role!

Thanks, Erika! We don't get there til the 7th, so hopefully we'll be 'safe' from that! I guess only time will tell... this will be interesting, to say the least!

Just wanted to say thank-you for what your family is doing for our country! Your situation is probably more stressful than a typical single mom right now since you no doubt worry about your DH everyday. Don't let the crowd bother you, just head in the other direction when you can and stay positive! We had it happen one year, took the kids out of school thinking we would miss the crowds and headed right into them, but we still had fun! Take deep breaths and enjoy the ride! :teeth:

Well, maybe not completely safe. The media members have the option of adding additional nights onto their stay for a discounted rate. So I'm guessing many will stay through the weekend. But look on the brightside... you might run into Regis Philbin!!! LOL ;)

I went to Expedia(Disneyworld took too long) to see if any resorts were available starting on the 8th. I just put in for 3 days. And I got at least 6. Maybe....maybe it's just the weekend of May 6th that's busy, and they are checking out on Sunday, May 8th. Sooooooooooo....maybe it won't be as busy starting the 1st of the week...

So have a great time!!

And I have to let you know how much I am in awe of one parent families(even temporary). It's really hard with two parents are around, so :worship: :worship: :worship:

My Disfamily and I are going the first week in May 2-11th, we planned this trip for months even before we heard about the celebration. We figured it might be less crowded, now we are seeing about media events for the 4 through the 6 and Regis and Kelly the week of the 9th and I spoke to one of the other firefighters who I work with and the 22nd is a triathalon in Disney which draws over 3,000 people.
So I guessing that is the reason for most hotels being booked, am I worried about it being crowded no way, my family and I are going to have the best time at the world and come back with some great memories. And come to think about it isn't that what Disney is all about having fun and meeting people from around the world?

The countdown continues :hourglass :Pinkbounc
18 days left YAHOOO!!!!! :thewave:
Happy Dance :dancer: :disrocks:
Been There, Done That, Going Back May '05  :bounce: :jumping1:

:firefight Me, ::MinnieMo DW, :earboy2: 7, princess: 3, :earsboy: 1

The kick off for the happiest celebration is the fifth and I read that there is a big media event at epcot on the fifth and it closes at one to the public. Good luck
