I just booked our lunch APS for Hollywood & Vine at 1:20. We plan on doing MK opening at 9am. Do I really need to leave MK at 12:20 to make it there? Think this is going to affect us enjoying MK? We will be spending a couple afternoon/eveings there, but this will be our only morning.

I think this would definitely be safe. The only thing that may speed it up is if you took the monorail to Epcot and then hopped a bus, but I am not even sure that there is a bus from Epcot to DHS, seeing as how the boats at the International Gateway run there. Perhaps someone else can clarify that part, but I would probably budget an hour to be safe. As far as how much you'll enjoy it, to me it wouldnt be too big a deal, especially since you are going to MK a few more times after that.

I would allow at least an hour. Don't forget you have to allow time not only for the 2 legs of travel (if using Disney Transportation) but also bag checks, admission, and actually getting to the restaurant. If you are driving or calling a cab you can probably do it in a half hour.

I think this is they step a lot of people forget... I would definitely plan for the hour. Could you push the ADR till 1:45??

No bus from the front of Epcot to DHS. Take the bus from the MK to the Swan, then either catch the boat from the Swan to DHS or walk to DHS. I'm saying the Swan because that is the closest to DHS. It will take about 10-15 minutes to walk after you get off the bus. It will probably take as long to ride the boat.

Yep, I could I think. I just know for a little man, I'm sort of pushing his lunch back a ways as it is doing the 1:20. (typical lunch is 11)

How bout grab him a snack somewhere along they way around 11 to hold him over. That way you can push it back a few minutes and give yourself a little more time to possibly enjoy the park....

I'm really confused now, so I guess I can't take a bus from MK to DHS? Or is it that going to the Swan is faster???

Second, do you have to worry about the buffets getting, well, I guess the word is gross :rotfl: by the end of the service? I think lunch lasts until 2:30 the CM said.

I'm pretty sure there is not a direct bus between MK and DHS, but there might be one at TTC (monorail to TTC and then bus to DHS...)

As for gross ;) buffets, I have never eaten at one for lunch or at the end of the shift so I can't say...

The other time waster you have to think about is, "just missing the bus." If there was a bus that arrived at MK to go to your destination at 12:15 and you didn't arrive at the bus stop until 12:17 and the bus was already gone, you probably have a 10-20 minute wait for the next bus. Add to that the actual time for you to travel from one place to another.

the same day? DD and I tried to get from MK to DHS late afternoon on our last trip. Have to take the monorail to TTC, then wait for the bus which took
WAAAY longer than waiting for any other bus going anywhere else. This is not an easy commute!! Do you have to do MK that morning? Can you switch things around to actually be at DHS that day? or Epcot which is a much easier commute. If not, I would budget at least an hour.

This is what I was going to post. Too often you get to a bus stop to watch the taillights of your bus pulling away.

One night at Epcot this happened to us, we were rounding the corner to briskly walk to our bus area, the bus pulled away. My dad looked at his watch and 40 MINUTES later the next one came.

(One of the reasons we're renting a car this time around)

:scared1:

SO here is the deal.... I have a late dinner that night at CM. We really only have 2 mornings to do parks, so I thought MK this morning and AK the other since it is their early EMH (DS is an animal nut).

That day we are celebrating him turning 4, so I thought H&V would be good for lunch with all the singing (but I hadn't realized it would be such an ordeal to go from MK to lunch there). Normally I wouldn't do two TS in one day, but it's his birthday.

Soooo. All this leads to my problem. ERRRRR! Suggestions?

Chef Mickey will be a WONDERFUL celebration for him for dinner.

I'd lean towards a CS for lunch, or if you really want to do another TS maybe 'Ohana's for breakfast? You could easily get to any of the monorail resorts for lunch too (if you want to do a second TS)

sounds like you are stressed already about it so I would say change your plans....you don't want to spend your sons birthday in a hurry. I think Hollywood and Vine is just ok food wise and think you could do better at chef mickey's or Crystal Palace which would be much easier too.:)

I agree. If I scrap H&V, then we will just do CS in MK. What to do, what to do. The only reason I'd have for DHS is to see "Speed" (aka McQueen) and the Al's Toy Barn. Playhouse Disney would be nice to catch too, but knowing him, I think he will enjoy rides more.....

Hummmm... if I don't do H&V this day, there is really no other to have the Character bf/lunch.

Okay, so how much fun is H&V? Worth the hastle or not?

NO BUSES BETWEEN PARKS!!

There are no buses that run between the parks. In order to get from one park to another - you have to return to your hotel (if staying on Disney property) and then catch a bus from your hotel to the next park.

The only exception to this is Magic Kingdom and Epcot that have the monorail that runs between the two parks.

There are a few other alternatives:
You can either take a taxi or get a rental car to use during your stay.
Or you can find the closet Disney hotel to the park you want to go to and take a bus from the 1st park to that Disney hotel and then take a bus from the hotel to the 2nd park. EXAMPLE: You are at Magic Kingdom and want to go to Disney Studios. Take a bus to the Swan. Then from the Swan take a bus to the Disney Studios.

You do need to allow extra time to get to the bus stop, wait for a bus to come, take the bus to the hotel, then get into the line at the bus stop for Disney Studios, wait for the bus, get to the Studios, go thru security, go thru the park entrance and then make your way to your restaurant.

When my daughter and I were there in December 07 - we allow at least an hour to make any type of bus transfers.
And I have found that sometimes it is easier to spend the money on taxi fare because it is easier, faster, and a direct route to where I want to go. And it saves me the time and aggravation in changing buses so many times.

Good luck and I am sure you will work it out.

I have heard mostly negative to just OK reports on the food at H&V. Where Chef Mickey mostly gets good reviews with the few bad ones sprinkled in (about the exact opposite)

If your DS really really loves those characters then maybe it's worth the hassle to see his face when he sees them.

If he's fine with those characters - then I'd skip it. He'll have more fun at CM than H&V.

I would highly recommend CP for lunch if you still want a character meal (OR if you can get it, a 8:05 am CP breakfast will have you finish breakfast just at MK is getting ready to open at 9am. Then do a snack or light CS lunch at MK or whatever other park you are going to before your late CM dinner)
