Really need an answer to this...Codes and Ressies

I want to go ahead and book our Feb trip now, but Im thinking if I do, I will not be included on any pin code offers for that time. I mean, it makes sense that if I already booked, why would Disney send me a pin code when they come out? Am I correct on this?
Whats the best thing to do if you want to get a 40% discount on room only for Feb but want to book now. Is there any way I would get a pin code and could apply it to my exisiting ressie?
Sorry if this is a dumb question..and sorry if its been asked a million times. But I just wanted to ask the experts !

I never get pin codes...but if you were to receive one you could apply it to an existing ressie as long as there is availability for the pin. You might want to go ahead and book now so you get the resort & room that you want. If you are going over Presidents week that might be blacked out anyway. Other public deals might come out too for February, like last year's 4-3 deal.

I have never received pincodes in the past.

I reserved (put deposit) on an October 2010 trip in August 2009. In April 2010, I was sent a pincode, which I applied to my existing ressie. I have the same resort/same package as I booked in 2009.

Another note.. in 2008, we had a package reserved, with resort choice of the Poly. My mother, who came with us, but lives in another household, received a pin. We could use it on 2 rooms, but there was no availability to use the pin at the Poly, so we had to change resorts (Contemp.)

Yes, most likely you will be able to apply a code whether a PIN or GP discount. You may, however, have to change resort or room type. All resorts/room types not always available. The Standard room was never avail for our Feb 2010 stay at WL The best we could get was a PIN 40% off on a Woods view. We couldn't even apply the 45% AP code to that! You just never know what might be avail. Just think of it as a sale! All sizes/types are always not avail!!

Most likely Feb (aside from Pres. Weekend) will have codes and PINS

An existing reservation does not seem to eliminate the opportunity for a PIN. I had an existing reservation for the week after Thanksgiving, and still received the PIN for extended free dining. I read about it happening quite a bit here on the boards, and can confirm it with first hand experience!

I booked my trip in late March after we returned home from Disney. I booked a room only ressie. I knew the fall was value season and Disney does give out some good discounts in the fall. Both DH and I have AP's so we sat back and waited to see what they were offering.

I am registered on the Disney Website and the Passholders site to receive deals but other then AP deals I've never receives a pin. In May I started receiving pins (5 pins) plus a few AP deals.

I knew some week in October were blacked-out because we've gone those weeks and ended up paying rake rate. So we ended up picking September and now it's going to be a family celebration. February is also a tough month for discounts. Usually by the second week Disney offers very few pin or discounts. If you have a AAA a card your can get a discount through them. If your going anywhere near Presidents Weekend or after chances are there will be very few discounts. I'm not saying you won't get one, because you never know what Disney will be offering.

These boards and Mousesavers are great for explaining past discounts, read up on them. Lots of times a day or two can make a difference on whether or not you get a discount. The more you know and understand how Disney offers discounts, the more likely it will be for you to snag one. Good Luck!
