I just planned a trip for DH and I back to the world from Feb 7th-14th. It's the earliest we can go because I am out of vacation time for this year, and don't get my new vacation time until Feb....my company runs by fisal year. :sad2: Anyway, I have seen a few posts saying how cold it is in Feb. and that people are wearing hats and gloves. I'm getting a bit worried that were going to be freezing during our trip. Granted we're from CT. and anything at that time of year will be a thaw to us, I just don't want the weather to ruin our trip, esp. since I want to do a day at Discovery Cove. If I wait till later in the month, I fear hitting school kids on Feb. break. I'd love to hear from anyone who's been to the world around that time. TIA! :Pinkbounc

Well, I am pretty sure that you can do DC year round as they have wet suits. I personally have no desire to go there when it is cold, I want to be able to sit in the sunshine. I think Feb is a great time to tour the parks, but you would not catch me swimming at that time. Check out the weather sites to see the average highs and lows. I am sure that here you will get plenty of people saying they were "hot" in WDW in the winter months, but that is a VERY subjective term. I would go but not plan on swimming. We have found March too cold to swim every time we have been,we are southerners granted, but who wants to stand around wet in a cool breeze??

Hi  we visited last Feb around the same dates and it was a little chilly at night, infact it was colder in WDW than it was back home in Seattle. During the day it was warm enough for spring/summer clothes, but as the sun went down we would have to change into jeans, long sleeved shirts and jackets...and yes, I was happy that I had a light pair of gloves.

Even though it was a cold at night, it was a geat time of year to visit. The crowds were low and we just missed all of the kids on break. Enjoy your trip!

Hi, we're also from CT. Feb weather in FL really varies. Roughly the same time period as your going, 2004 we wore hats coats gloves during the day a couple of times, 2006 we swam everyday. Be prepared for both extremes!

We're from the midwest and have learned to EXPECT ANYTHING as the weather goes in off-season Orlando.
We always pack winter and summer-wear.
In Dec/Jan/Feb we have even worn LONG THERMAL UNDERWEAR (after sundown)... we now pack it for any off-season trip.

Typical day:

Cool outside at 7am.
Wear shorts and Tee's.
Over that add a thin nylon wind-breaker
We put our "chilly-wear" and RAIN ponchos in a back-pack.
(Rain ponchos are REALLY cheap in hunting section of discount retailers.
You can buy BIG THICK ones to allow covering large jackets... more later.)

"Chilly-wear" is a nylon cotton-lined warm-up suit with zipper legs and a cotton-lined windbreaker.
We buy OVER-sized in these so they can easily be put on OVER other clothing.
After standing in the sometimes chilly "early-entry" lines we can usually take off the wind-breakers.
We always rent a locker at the park(s) and leave our "chilly-wear" in the locker 'til sun-down.
If it looks like rain (in Florida? Who'da thunk?) we take the Ponchos.

Much later, if its a warm night, we're just fine in the shorts.
If it turns windy/cool... we can visit the locker and choose which level of "chilly" OVER-WEAR to add to our clothing.

If it turns really COLD (windy 30's-40's not unheard-of at certain times of the year) we can make a restroom trip and slide-on the long underwear... OR... we can even add the final outer-layer of the RAIN ponchos (with their HOODS)... OVER everything else.
That trick (along with ear-muffs and gloves) has allowed us to "comfortably" stay and enjoy Fantasmic! or IllumiNations when others (less-prepared) have been "frozen-out."

On our first morning in Orlando in February this year we had frost on the windscreen of our minivan (much to the annoyance of our friends to whom we'd said the weather would be pleasant and they wouldn't need to bring along any winter clothing) two days later it was really hot. It varies, but more times than often it's good.

Last year we out-ran the blizzard on Feb 12 and drove down to WDW rather than waiting to see if our plane was going to leave or not. (Supposedly it did take off 2 hrs late but we would never have made it thru 2 feet of snow to the AP!) ... Anyway ... I threw an extra heavy jacket in as a last minute thing as we thought only of the warm Florida sun!

BRRRRRR ... we FROZE. I wore multiple layers! For CRT one night, I wore long pants, then shirt, sweater, dressy but thick tapestry jacket and my heavy jacket. Felt pretty good but I look REALLY fat in the pic with Cinderella! Wished I had thrown some gloves in the car.

Anyway, tried to swim once ... but since the pools are not very warm, it was not very nice. The last full day and the day we left, it was capris and tee-shirt weather again. Just showing you can never tell what the weather will be.

But a cold day in WDW is better than any other kind of day anywhere else!!! :teeth:

WDW was well prepared though with sweaters, hats and gloves in the shops. It was almost as if they knew some simpletons from the other side of the Atlantic would have travelled without the right clothing. Another $100 prised out of my cold (but not dead) hand.

We were there for the frost too, however we had seen the forecast and brought woolly hats and gloves with us from Scotland. The following week it was scorching.

You can never tell.

We've spent five weeks at WDW in January/February for the past five years. While the weather is variable, it has never been really-really cold. We are Midwesterners & purposely go to Florida at that time. Take the quiz: Would you rather sit in a snowbank at 10-below, or be at WDW in mostly sunshine during the day & a light jacket in the evening?

We went last year 2/6--2/12

It was half and half. We swam a couple days, and froze the whole day a couple of days. We went to MGM one day and were so cold we left (and we're from Indiana, so we are pretty used to being cold)

I love no blazing heat and no crowds though.

I am figuring my trip in a week will be an eye opener.

Normal temps in Orlando in February might be highs in the low to mid 70s and lows in the 50s, but you could also have days where the high doesn't get out of the 50s and you have lows near or below 30 degrees.

It was cold, always is around my BD Feb. 5th and that is when I am there! :cool1:

We were there last Feb. It was cool in the morning, warm enough for shorts and t shirts during the day and cold at night. Gosh darn it, I didn't plan for that and I had to come home with two brand new WDW sweatshirts. I apologized to my DH for not planning correctly :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Seriously, we wanted pants and a warm coat at night. One night gloves would have been nice but I refused to wear gloves while in Florida.

Thanks for all the info guys! I think we will stick with it and hope for the best. I don't mind it being cool on a few days, I just hope it will be warm the day we decide to visit DC. That is my bday present from my husband and I would hate for the weather to ruin it! Until then I'll be praying for good weather :goodvibes
