Really "down" today

Problems with ds (13) and dh and I disagree how to deal with him. The weather is overcast and showery- I don't know, I just feel so low. How does everyone else deal when they have days like this? I want to just go to bed and pull the covers over my head, but I know that will just feed the mood.

Depends on how long the mood lasts. I have chronic depression, so I have to be careful about giving in too much to those low moods. If it's just a bad day--fight with the kids, not getting enough time with DH, check bounced, etc--then I just give myself permission to go to bed until I feel better, but no longer than 12 hours. If the situation is more serious--DHs health takes a nosedive, Christian gets badly hurt, basement flooding(or all of the above)--then I have to really be active about what I can allow myself to do. If Im going into the second day of it, then I need to be proactive. I make sure I'm spending at least a short while outside. I play happy music. I walk. Sometimes I go to the mall. Sometimes I take myself to Barnes & Noble (books cheer me up.) ANYTHING but getting back in bed. And it doesn't necessarily fix the problems, but it doesn't feed them either.

Of course, if you feel low, disinterested, exhausted and dull for 2 weeks or more, you may be dealing with depression, which can be treated. So keep a close eye on it. Good luck. I hate having "those days" when nothing goes right. Just don't let it turn into weeks and months for ya.

I read your update, glad cleaning up made you feel so much better. hope your sons headache clears quickly

On off-days, I do sometimes give into my mood, if I know it's only one day. I give myself time to take a nap, Dis a lot and a nice hot cup of tea. Good music will always perk me up.
Sometimes I reach out and call and connect with old friends that I miss.
I always know that tomorrow is another day to start fresh. (Heaven willing!)

I hope your DS feels better and that you do as well! Hang in there!

I felt this way today, too! Just like, I can't wait for this day to be over because I feel low. My go to is the DISBoards, or the Disney Store here is in walking distance so sometimes I take a stroll over there :) Love how Disney can get my mind off of things!

Hang in there! "The best day of your life could be tomorrow" is a good quote to remember!

The mood passed! I cleaned out my clothes!! Got 2 trashbags full for goodwill and I'm going to do my closet tomorrow. Just seeing the bedroom with so much extra space (I had clothes in baskets just PILED) made me feel much better. I cleaned off my bureau and vacuumed too.

My son still has his sinus headache though- I told him he HAS to tough it out tomorrow. It's just that HORRIBLE allergy time of year and we have to push through. We can't stop everything until the first frost! I do know how he feels though because I got one this afternoon. It's miserable.

 Hope your day picks up for you. We all go through these times, so we understand.

I used to have sinus headaches all the time, where I would literally have a headache almost everyday, and would take 2-4 aspirin/sinus pills almost daily (crazy, I know). I started drinking a LOT of water, and my sinus pain/pressure has been greatly reduced. I haven't had an aspirin in over a week (that is big for me). You might see if that helps your son (in case you're not already doing that). It doesn't hurt to try.

:thumbsup2 I was having the same kind of day on Sunday and I ended up doing the same thing...and I felt pretty good about myself when I dropped the clothes off. I didn't get my closet done but maybe next time I'm feeling blue.

I'm here in Maine too and allergies are wreaking havoc with my daughter as well!! Hope they can feel better soon:goodvibes
