Really 5 stops!

On recent trips, my experience is it only stops at Swan & Dolphin to MK. First stop coming back.

We have always rented a car and are doing so for our November trip as well. We are staying at BWV and have reservations at BOG on our first night. I was toying with the idea of taking a bus to MK, thinking that might actually be faster than driving - by the time you drive to the TTC parking lot, take the tram to TTC and then take the monorail to MK, it seems like it takes forever. Would it be faster to just take the bus?

Sorry - What is BOG? Is that a swamp related hotel?

It's actually six stops. There are separate stops for Beach and Yacht Club.

Same for the Downtown Disney line - except there, if you board at Marketplace, you get 1) PI stop, where you may be waiting for drivers to change shifts 2) Typhoon Lagoon stop if it's open 3) Swan 4) Dolphin 5) Yacht 6) Beach 7) Boardwalk.

Fortunately they have stopped doing this to or from MK. At least when I've gone to/from MK recently.

Bus routes and frequency do vary slightly depending upon time of day, time of year, etc. During many periods, it just doesn't make sense to limit a bus to two or three stops when passenger counts are extremely low.

This is very true -we just returned from a stay at BWV and only once did we stop at Y&BC and I believe that was on the way to AK. As well, we returned from MK 3 different times and every time we were the first stop. Transportation was excellent this stay.

:thumbsup2
I love our dedicated OKW buses, and I think our bus service to the parks from OKW is fantastic.

I'm one of those who really doesn't care for the buses at OKW. Give me BWV buses any day!!! When I stayed at OKW a few years ago, we spent nearly as much time within OKW, as we did getting there from Epcot!!! And if I had gotten off at any other stop than my own??? No way would I have been able to find my way to my villa...I find it to be very confusing in there!!!:thumbsup2

I don't have an issue with the buses at BW...just not a problem for me.

Sorry but lets get the facts right. We own at BWV and it's actually 6 stops:eek: with the BWV the last. YC/BC is 2 stops not 1. this is only from AK.

we don't have a lot to brag about at BWV other then the long hallsways, scary clown pool, and the long hallsways. :rolleyes1
Please don't take our long bus rides away.:rotfl2:

Pretty soon the Swan is going to charge us for getting off there to walk through to BWV. :rotfl2:

Yes it is 6 stops. I don't get why we have to share buses with the Swan & Dolphin since they aren't Disney owned hotels. They should be the last stops not the first if we have to share with them.

I really don't mind all the stops, each resort seems to have several, either internal or external - what I REALLY can't stand is staying at a DVC resort and then getting dropped off at a park at the farthest bus stop from the entrance for Pop or All Stars - this is maddening to stay at high end places and then have the bus driver switch stops on arrival. Can't they just drop us off where they are supposed to without their signage on, and then move ahead to where they are picking up??? This drives my DH nuts. He loves his DVC and is proud to be a member, and hates getting off at the Value resort stop as if he's staying there. Might be snobby of us, but we have stayed at Values and don't mind getting dropped off there when that's where we are staying.
Sorry, didn't mean to change topics - guess I should have started a new thread!:goodvibes

Why don't you write to Disney to say you would not mind a dues increase to pay for separate busses? If you can get enough members and the Management of the associated hotel to agree maybe they will do that.

okw and ssr are stand alone resorts.

the Mk and Epcot resorts share the expensives with WDW resorts.

so basically unless the mangers at the resorts would have to ask for this too - unless you are suggesting that DVC members do the costs alone.

How many people have you seen try to board the bus at the theme parks before the guests all get off? I hate getting dropped off at the wrong stop as well, especially if you don't know where you are catching the bus back to the resort. It saves the drivers time if they only have to stop once to drop off.

It only bothers me when we're dropped off out in what feels like the parking lot at DHS and EPCOT.

Side note: At AK, the new Art of Animation is on the left as the closest stop to the park entrance along with Wilderness lodge on the right. Stop location and category don't seem to go hand in hand.

....

OKW is the very last stop around the corner at the bus stop. If you see the bus drive up and you are just getting to the first bus stop, you probably won't make the OKW bus.

One year it took us 90 minutes to get from Typhoon lagoon to BC. Free or not, I figure any time it takes me almost the same amount of time to get back to my resort as it does for me to FLY to Orlando from NJ, it's lousy service.
I've never been without a car since.

Op, I'm on your side. IMO it's poor service.

all deluxe resorts share.

the MK shares w/each other as well.
it might be Polyn, WL or worst GF (it is the furthest away from BLT and VWL) sometimes think it might be fw as well. It is generally no more than your resort plus 2 others.

AKL shares with Kidani

SSR and OKW have several stops

Epcot resorts have always shared - except during busy times - then BC&Yc share - BW,D&S share - but during those times when only one bus is needed that is all there is.

AKL and kidani are the same resort.

Just back from two weeks at Boardwalk and Beach Club. I have to say I found the bus service on this trip extremely lousy!!

I would like to know why five large deluxe resorts are sharing the same bus for parks ie Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Beach Club and Boardwalk!!

On one occasion, I had SIX stops from DTD Marketplace to get back to Beach Club ie PI, TL, BW, Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and eventually the BC. The driver must have been the slowest ever, beyond belief!! And this was after waiting 40minutes for the bus in the first place.

Another time, whilst waiting for bus to Blizzard Beach, three Magic Kingdom buses arrived, one after the other.:confused3

Seriously considering using car hire in future for waterparks, DTD etc.

The system needs fixing!!

We too hate the buses. We hate them at OKW and at BWV...neither are fast trips to the parks. And that is why we like BWV more than OKW because we can, at least, walk/boat to Epcot and HS. We still have to bus to AK, but we only go there once per trip. We also like to monorail over to MK from Epcot...can do am at Epcot and pm at MK. We have usually had our car there too and we will certainly drive over to the parks too.

We are doing BCV for 5 nights in January and will be flying in, so we will bus to AK and then walk to HS and Epcot and monorail to MK. We won't do water parks and can live without a visit to Downtown Disney (though my DS really wants to eat at EoS...so we'll likely bus over for lunch/shopping).

I think 5 stops is crazy. It truly sucks to eat up 45 minutes or more of your day just to get to a park...never mind wanting to scoot back to the resort for a break or lunch and then doing another park in the evening (you'd eat up so much of your day on the dang buses).

I just consider it part of the fun, :goodvibes

I thankfully, along with the 6+/- people I travel with, appreciate parking the car and letting someone else do the driving. I see so many threads about people stressed out about how long it takes, how many stops it took, yada , yada! I'm on vacation, we chat on the bus, we commiserate on the bus, we laugh at each other, we people watch, and sometimes even nap! I don't ever cut myself so short on travel time as to miss an ADR!! At 15 I feel comfortable letting my son and his friends take the bus and enjoy a bit more freedom than at home! They come and go, they've got the bus system down pat. It's all good!

Love the buses, I appreciate the bus drivers and their infinite patience :worship: Lord knows I couldn't do it!

My advice, relax people, you're on vacation, not a marathon! :goodvibes

Same but not to come down on OKW-most resorts actually.

Plus all the BWV rooms from screen door down are closer to S/D bus stop than BWV bus stop. So its actually the first off when the bus stops there first. Obviously the time saving may entince anyone at BWV to get off there. Also you could leave from the BWV bus stop and go direct to MK.

Be nice to have a "typical" chart of bus stops per trip per resort. EX in 7 days if you stay at BWV and do 2 days MK, 2 days EPCOT, 2 days DHS and 1 day AK.

Internal bus stops would have to be counted.

2 days MK-direct there and back using S/D would be zero stops.
2 days EPCOT-zero stops
2 days DHS-zero stops
1 day AK-2 stops (BBeach each way).

Total extra stops for the week-2.

Total bus rides for the week-6 (3 round trip). Less if you use EPCOT monoral to MK.

AKL and kidani are the same resort.

They are separate buildings, with separate bus stops. As far as time on the bus goes, it has been lengthened for many since AKL began using two bus stops instead of just stopping at Jambo.

Currently the only resorts with a single bus stop all the time are Pop Century and Art of Animation.
