Reallocation Question

If a stay is booked using home resort privilege (here, 54 Polynesian points in current use year), can the booking be "modified" within 7 months of checkin using the same reservation (resort, dates, category, etc) but have the system reallocate / pull expiring banked points from another resort to replace the current points? Assume resort is full for category so it's not a straight cancellation and rebooking. Thanks in advance.

No, you can not use non home resort at 7 months to replace the stay unless there is availability for the nights,

Now, if there are some nights available, the system will allow that, but not the entire thing,

It would defeat the purpose of home resort booking preferences

Is it any different if points are from the same resort? Like reallocating borrowed Poly points from a cancelled reservation this summer to a later Poly reservation booked with current Poly points? Assuming borrowed points have not expired, of course.

And as you were saying about a room becoming available and the system allowing a reallocation there, are you speaking of a situation where, say, a middle night of a 3+ night reservation becomes available that system can modify to use banked or borrowed non-home resort points to reallocate that one night ? Or does the available night need to be on either end of the reservation?

You can definitely modify using the same home resort points to pick up frees up borrowed points and free up current UY points.

In terms of the rooms, I have only don’t it when there were rooms at the beginning of the trip so I can’t say what would have happened if they were in the middle, as I have had that yet.

The best you can do is try and see what happens!

You can use the modify feature on the dvc website to reallocate your points to use banked or borrowed points - from the same home resort. Just go into the system and pretend to modify. Pick your same reservation and it will automatically change the points used to pick up the expiring points. I have done this many times and it worked each time.
