Reallocating Banked Points... Am I Crazy?

I just got off the phone with MS and I cannot believe what I encountered. If I am wrong I will fall on my sword, but I do not believe I am. Please tell me if I am crazy?!

I have multiple VGF contracts (OG VGF and VGF2 recently purchased). I had a December reservation at VGF booked in the 11-month window with banked points that I cancelled on my own 31+ days out. Banked points were returned to my account. I have an additional VGF stay booked to rent in the spring. I wanted to apply my now freed banked points to that reservation. I have an October UY so everything is within my UY. I tried doing it a few times on my own, but kept getting the Dwarfs so I figured I would call.

The MS CM I got on the phone said I absolutely could NOT reallocate my VGF banked points sitting in my account to a future dated VGF reservation that was booked in the 11-month window because it would be circumventing home resort advantage. WHAT?!? I own VGF, I booked VGF in the 11-month window, I cancelled a VGF reservation, and wanted to reallocate to a VGF reservation. Where am I circumventing home resort advantage? She said she would have to cancel the reservation and try to rebook it. I said absolutely not since it wasn't available and I had booked it for someone else. She put me on hold and it was magically fixed without having to cancel.

I looked in my account activity and it just says "modify," nothing like manual adjustment which I remember it said when I had an exception made to bank newly purchased points past the banking window years ago. I know I have done this numerous times myself online by modifying in the past.

What am I missing? The MS CM was incorrect, right?!

The CM is incorrect. You should be able to modify the trip you made for the spring and reallocate the banked points into it since those points are from the same home resort.

I would go on, use chat, and have them do it. I had some trouble modifying last week (got the dwarves) and the chat CM got everything set for me. Just tell them that you canceled the trip that used banked points and now would like them to be put into the spring trip to free up points you will be able to bank.

The only caveat that would prevent this is if the Spring trip was already made up of banked/borrowed points and thus, nothing to allocate...but that doesn't sound like that is the case.

Thank you! I thought I was correct, but needed to make sure I wasn't crazy! o_O I have even read here this online modification method works with holding points at the same home resort/contract (when in the 60 day window) so I was shocked to hear about an issue with banked points!

The spring reservation had some banked points, but mostly current UY points. Now it's predominantly banked points with only a few current UY points.

I didn't realize chat was that powerful and I could have points moved around. I will definitely opt to go that direction in the future. I appreciate it!

Call back, they can absolutely do this on the phone. I got them to apply the banked points from X contract and the rest from Y contract, both in same member number.

If there are two member numbers, this isn't possible.

Maybe when she put you on Hold, she consulted someone else, found out it could be done as a Modification, did it, and was too embarrassed to tell you she was wrong and you were right....

Thank you! I was tempted to just hang up while I was on hold, but she was already looking at my contracts and reservations and I wanted to make sure she didn't break anything.

THIS is a real possibility! I was on hold for awhile. The whole call was 22 minutes and I connected to her right away. No wait at all. :scratchin

You are correct, assuming the VGF points used to book originally, and the banked VGF points are under the same membership number. Which is as it seems from your posts. However, if you have more than one DVC Membership number, and those VGF points/contracts are under different memberships, then the CM is correct, as reservations days can not be split between membership numbers.

22 minutes on hold isn;t too bad for them to check on something, these days. I called yesterday to renew my Sorcerers Pass. A CM answered right away, but to renew the pass, I had to be transferred to a special extension, and was on hold for 52 minutes waiting for them to answer, then another 10 minutes while they processed the renewal, as they had to access my MDE account. Apparently renewals are automatically activated, now., So no more going to Guest Services and showing your digital DVC Card and ID before entering a park. All the CMs were pleasent, but you could tell from their tone that the special renewal CMs were stressed out, likely from understaffing.

Are all your points under the same member ID? Such that you don't need to transfer the points?

Thank you! I only have one member ID and each contract is .0, .1, .2, etc. If only those pesky Dwarfs weren't popping up I would have been fine one my own!

That's crazy about the AP renewal wait times! It's really terrible that it can't be done online like it was in the past.

Yes, all the contracts are under the same member ID. I think I just got a misinformed MS CM. Just my luck :rotfl:

The Gold and now Sorverer pass always had to be renewed via the phone or in person.

Only the highest level pass could be done online.

Oh I hadn't realized. I thankfully purchased a set of Gold vouchers before they were pulled forever so I never had to renew a discounted pass. I was Platinum before that and always renewed online since it was the top tier.
