Have any of you ever applied to be on a reality show, even games shows? If you have did you ever get on or hear anything from the show??

My 2 teenagers, my dad and I applied for the family version of the Amazing Race. We never heard a word, and needless to say, didn't get selected. We would have been a much better team than some of the teams that did make it, but I was just as glad we didn't when they barely even got to leave the country.

Bummer that they dont even say thanks but no thanks.

I am thinking about applying to be on a game show, there are a couple but one is having a casting (open) call next sat. in Boston. I am SERIOUSLY considering taking a one day flight up and back to apply.

Is that crazy??????

My friend's husband sent a tape in to Survivor. Of course he wasn't selected. I have no interest in having strangers watch me do anything! I doubt there is enough money out there to convince me that being on a reality show is a good idea.

My kids have joked around about me trying to get on wife swap or trading spouses. I told them that they couldn't handle another mom or their dad would drive her crazy within the first 24 hours! :rotfl:

Our next door neighbor and very good friend of my DS (24yo) applied for :happytv: MTV's REAL WORLD 2 years ago. He had just graduated college and was 22yo. He was hired by a huge Insurance Co. HE kept getting call backs to MTV and kept going to them but they were months and months apart. All along he is working at this Ins Co and moving right along with them. MTV called for the last time almost a whole year later for the NOW Denver series and Dave said NO, as he had just landed a HUGE promotion and the Co could not promise him anything if he left for (whatever it is, 13 weeks or so) Real World. Dave turned them down. After that he was transferred to their San Diego office and at the young age of 24yo (turns 25 end of the month) he is running the entire S.D. area offices.:thumbsup2 I am going to say, Dave, made a very smart decision.:goodvibes

I applied for The Real World - guess what.... I got a call back; however, does it look like I'm on it... :lmao: I would love to be the on Sidney season they are about to begin filming but I guess I wasn't right for the part.

I am good friends with the Weaver family from the Amazing Race. We always lived close to one another. They truly are great people but the show made them look like a complete, well you know!

But what do you expect with reality shows!

I don't know anyone who has been on a show personally, but my brothers went to high school with a kid who was on Road Rules. He has also been on a few of the challenges, I think his name is Jeremy, sorry I can't remember his last name. I do know my brothers don't like him.

Our mehanic applied for survivor. He got more than one call backs but just ended. They didnt ever tell him no.:confused3 However if you apply and get on you have to post and let us know. I am a reality nut. We watch survivor, amazing race, american idol and big brother. I would love to do amazing race. I wouldnt make it through survivor because I wouldnt eat anything raw or with a head on it or with bones in it. I would die on the island!!!!! I cant sing for AI. I couldnt handle BB emotionally with all the backstabbing.

My friend Chris was the WV candidate on "The Biggest Loser". He didn't get picked to stay at the ranch but lost over 100 pounds on his own at home!

I auditioned for both Jeopardy and The Weakest LInk, but didn't make either. I was on a DC area high school quiz show in HS (It's Academic). We won our first round match, so I got to be on again. So...I sorta have!

That is one my biggest pet peeves with reality shows!!! They are manipulated and producerized. It may not have a script but it isn't even close to being a REAL or full representation of events. Most take hours and hours of tape and edit to create the greatest controversy and drama. I don't know any reality show producers but I do know other producers and their job is to create a marketable product. I see the producer's hand in every reality show I watch. Of course, that is why we all watch, isn't it? To see the crazy lady, the geek, etc... funny how they even have stock characters in reality TV. ;)

I applied for Big Brother twice and Survivor once. Didn't get a call or anything. I'm such a loser.

Your not a loser!!!! It looks like you are fixing to go on a much more adventurous endeavor in three short months!!!!! Congratulations!!

You are exactly right. However, by agreeing to be on the show - you are basically signing your life away... They are free to do as they please. It sucks, but it is all in the name of the game. The producers (editors) create drama in their own ways, even though little of it actually happens.

Example: The Weavers told me they did not fight with anyone as much as it was shown. They kept using the same scenes, etc over and over...

My Mom and cousins were selected to be on Family Feud. They got the letter in the mail stating to be ready anytime within the next 8 months (I think thats what the time frame was) It was very exciting at the time, but they never got called. :confused3 I was planning on going to support them and maybe a little side trip to a place called Disneyland........heard of it??:lmao:

I was a finalist to be on a trivia show in my mid-teens, but it never went anywhere.
