Realistically, Character breakfast, timing?

We want to enjoy a character breakfast at Surf's Up (DS 's Stitch!), however, we also want to be at rope drop (to get our RSR FPs) that same day (27OCT-Saturday.) From what I can find on these boards, SU serves breakfast through 11a. If we made our reservation for 10:30a, is that a realistic time to:
1) Still have the opportunity for good interaction with the characters at breakfast?
2) Give us enough time to get the RSR FPs (assuming DCA opens at 8a, still waiting on posted hours), maybe catch a quick ride on something, and then make our way to PCH?

Should I push the reservation to 10a instead? There's no way I want to go through this much trouble if we're going to miss Stitch!

How long of a walk from Carsland to SU? 15 minutes? Would it be best to use the GCH entrance to get there? Or quicker through the front entrance?

Clearly, this is a first time trip for us! Any guidance from the "seasoned" DLand experts is greatly appreciated! :worship:

We did a 1030a a couple months ago, and we did fine seeing all the characters. The walk really depends on your group. I would say a fast group can do it in 15, slower walkers maybe 20. I would exit through the GC exit and follow the signs to the valet parking area and follow the sidewalk out to the street.

We don't know what time the park will open in October, so I can''t say if you will have enough time to do all you want. If rope drop is 9am, you should be good. If it is 10am, you won't be.

Thanks Malcon. I'm only guessing rope drop to be around 8a on that Saturday judging by how it is currently posted for Sept. I agree, should they move RD to 10a, I think I'll change my breakfast to 8a.

Don't really know if I would consider us fast or slow walkers. Guess it will depend on exactly how hungry we are that morning! :rotfl:

We had an 8AM rope drop and I arrived in the FP line for RSR quickly after waiting at the entrance from 6:45 AM with my family... We did this August the 15th.

We received 9:45 AM FP for RSR. My family took the standby line for the RSR rope drop and I went single rider. The we had photos with characters in carsland then used our 9:45 AM FP and made a 10:20 reservation for Minnies. Which worked out great....

WOW! SplashMo you accomplished quite a bit before breakfast! That is similar to what I was hoping to accomplish. Mostly wanted to get the RSR FP's before breakfast. Would likely use them after we ate.

Hoping in October will won't have to wait for rope drop over an hour though. Not really morning people! We'll be lucky to arrive 30 minutes early!

Wish I had the budget that I could stay onsight for the EE, but alas, we choose to spoil ourselves with meals at BB, CCR and the attend the MHP instead!

Juliebug - best I can guess from reading several posts herein, the hours will most likely be posted within a week to 10days from now. Or as soon as August is over. ?? Please note that is simply a GUESS!! :rolleyes1

Thank you for your best guess! I'm used to six months out so this has been a lesson in patience for me.

Oh, I so agree on the patience lesson Juliebug!
But then again, I've found I really kind of like it. Especially since I've changed my mind several times over the past few months! Don't feel bad about it either since I have the confidence places are not booking up while I can't make up my mind!
Maybe it's not such a bad system?

We solved this problem by eating before heading to the park. Is there a reason why you're not exploring this option?

I agree! That would be a great option if we were the kind of people that acknowledge 6am is an actual hour of the day one can be awake!! :lmao: In other words - we are NOT morning people. It is going to be hard enough to get there for rope drop to get our RSR FPs. Are you saying people actually eat a full breakfast before 8am on vacation?!? :rotfl2:
