Realistic Wait time for Avator Flight of Passage

Regarding wait times...
Depends on if you get stuck at the tapstiles, your pace vs others, and, if at EMH, whether or not you understand which direction you need to go (the latter is what messed my plans for an early FOP ride).

You could be at the very front of the line and still get stuck into an hour wait because of so many variables. When I arrived an hour early, the shortest lines were just reaching the ticket booths. It didn't take too long to get in but not knowing how they split on-site EMH guests and off-site EMH (like Disney Springs guests) slowed our progress and by the time we reached what would have been the end, it was marked as a 3 hour wait. Since we had a fastpass later in the day, we opted to walk on Na'vi instead of risking wasting the entire EMH and then some in that line. Though a lot of you might feel that NRJ is still a waste of time XD
There is no EMH that day for AK. Is there a direction we should be heading towards? Go left...go right? Thanks!

I'd also recommend getting in line 5 minutes before closing. We did that in January and waited about 45 minutes.

On our last visit, we got in line just before a 9:30 pm closing time. The posted wait was 110 minutes but the actual wait was only 17.

You can’t beat that in the morning no matter how early you arrive.

Go left. Just follow the massive crowd. If you are not in front don’t count on it being a quick wait as the line builds quick.

And yes those wait times of 2-3 hours are correct during the day.

Wait times will be a function of how busy the park is that day.

Good luck

If we were to arrive 1 hour before the park opens, how long is the wait to get on to AFOP? I just read that the current wait time is 220 minutes! Could that be right?
I had a fast pass but had to drop it because of a big birthday dinner conflict.
I don't mind getting to the park very early, but I don't want to wait over 2 hours to get on to this attraction. I mean how can the wait be that long if you are at AK an hour before it even opens????
I have rope dropped FoP multiple times over the past three years including most recently early December 2019 and late January 2020.
My experience over at least 10 different rope drop visits has been as described below:
~For best results, go on a regular park opening day with no extra magic hours.
~Arrive at the park gate 75 minutes before scheduled opening.
~They will open the tapstiles about 45 minutes (on average) before scheduled park opening
~ power walk quickly toward pandora
~ they will hold everyone back at the bridge to Pandora until about 25 minutes (on average) before scheduled park opening.
~ You will experience FoP and be walking off the ride at Approximately Scheduled park opening time. The wait at this time can now be more than 300 minutes.
I rope drop even on days I have a fast pass for FoP because the only thing better than a ride on FoP is two rides on FoP.
(Also, it does work pretty well on Extra Magic Hour days too, but in my experience it’s slightly better on regular opening days)

Thank you so much for this tip. I'm planning to do exactly this in a few weeks! Just curious about the line at Navi when you get off FoP around park opening time. I was hoping to be able to knock them both out first thing if possible.

I’m not well informed on Navi wait times after rope dropping FoP, because I almost always power walk to Gorrilla Falls exploration trails after FoP. I love to walk quickly straight to the gorillas and spend a few minutes in their natural environment ( not behind the glass) before the noisy crowds arrive taking away my feeling of being alone with the gorillas in their jungle setting. I’ve experienced Navi about 3 times, and it’s enjoyable but gorilla time is more important for me.

This thread has been super helpful to me.

One thing I haven't seen addressed so far though... is stroller parking. I'm not looking forward to negotiating the crowds at rope drop with a stroller to begin with, and then not sure where/when to ditch it. Any ideas on how to park the stroller with the tsunami of people that will be in line with us?

We were at AK this morning, got there about 7.40am. They opened the tapstiles at 8am, then held us on the bridge into Pandora until a couple minutes after 8.30am. We would have been on the ride before 9, except it broke down and we were stuck waiting 20-30 mins because of that.
