There seems to be some rumors about a change in the way dinning plan credits are being used. If possible lets limit posts to anyone that has real world experience not second hand my brothers friends cousins told them but real world first hand experience using the dinning plan for a stay that started in 2006. I think we know how the plan operated in 2005 so postings on experiences that happened during 2005 wouldn't provide any usefull info on any changes that started in 2006.

I thought it would be usefull to get some real world experience to answer these two questions.

First are the credits now being tracked seperately by age? I know that the card has the number of adults and children identified on them but the receipts never itemized the credits by adult or child. So the first question is does the receipts you get back when you but a meal differentiate the credits? This would appear to be the best way to tell if they are separating them in the system. They would have to have a way to tell you the number of child / adult credits if they did differentiate them.

The second question is were there limits on using the credits? Such as not being able to pay for children meals out of pocket or not being able to purchase more adult meals for a meal than the number of adults you have on your card.

Thanks in advance to keeping this just for real world experiences.

The 2006 PDF brochure that explained how credits are pooled is no longer on the Disney website. The wording in the information I received when I checked in talked about each person's credits.

There have been posts indicating that some CM's have said credits will shortly be differentiated. Disney could do that be actually having adult and child credits or putting the credits on each family members card individually and enforcing the non-transferability terms of the plan.

My guess is Disney is considering changing the way the plan operates. I'm sure they're not only looking at how many guests are "banking" the credits but also how much money dining guests spend on adult beverages and how many guests go home with unused credits.

I'm sure you'll see plenty of posts when a change occurs. For the benefit of others reading this thread, as long as your child eats you'll still get your monies worth even if you wind up using credits you paid for at the child's rate to order child meals.

The plan doesn't work well if you have children that don't eat, older children who want to eat adult meals and juniors (11 year olds) that want to eat children meals.

It does appear that change is on the way. I am curious as to what the specific implementation of the change is going to be. If they do indeed seperate child and adult credits it doesn't really affect us as far as TS meals go. (CS is a whole other story:-))

If on the other hand they don't let you pay for the occasional meal out of pocket that is another issue. When we went on the dinning plan we ended up eating two more table service meals than we had credits for. Be selectively choosing when to pay for meals we were able to use the dinning plan to pay for the most expensive ones and pay out of pocket for the least expensive. In the kids case we paid for dinner at CRT. Last summer it was reasonably priced and it made sense to pay for them there and us the credits for thier dinners at Boma. The same goes for the adult meals. There may be a meal that either my wife or I don't want an appetizer and desert. We would pay for that meal out of pocket and use the credit for a meal when we did want to get the appetizer and desert.

Yes there have been these posts since the first days fo the MYW dining plan, but no changes have occured.

Lets not get into the whole "is it cheating" debate, but now that DVC members and renters will be allowed to purchase the dining plan without any ticket purchase requirements I can see some persons booking a 2 bedroom villa full of adults but registering as 1 adult and 7 kids. Unless they do differentiate the credits.

What you're suggesting isn't any different than buying children park tickets for adults. If someone does what you suggest one batch of resort cards will say 1A3C and the other group of cards will say 4C. There have been reports of restaurants only allowing as many adult meals as adults on the reservation.

I can see DVC guests losing the ability to buy MYW Dining without tickets if too many guests follow your strategy.

By the way there really isn't any debate, what you're talking about is cheating, really fraud.

Not suggesting a thing, just pointing out another reason why Disney needs to differentiate credits or enforce what the back of the cards say.
