REAL VMK Logo Pins... Question?

I know a couple years ago in the parks some VMK (real) pins were given away to a select few. They were blue and had the VMK logo. Lately I have seen a LOT of these on E-Bay where before they were pretty rare. Does anyone know if they are now being sold in the Disney parks?? I was just curious where all of these pins are coming from all of a sudden.
Thanks!

These are really old VMK insider Tour pins from back in 2005. The pins are retired and are extremely rare. The only VMK Merchandise Pins currently released are the Pirate pins that can be bought anywhere inside the Disney Property and come in boxes of 2 along with a virtual code for each pin. The pins are random but you can buy them on ebay as a complete set (I did do this). The pins are great to have and if you liked the old Insider Pins there is a Gold Pirate Medallion pin that resembles them somewhat. The pirate pins are definatly a must-have for any VMK fan.

Last month Mickey's of Glendale released a VMK logo pin. It's a limited edition of 300. That's probably what you are seeing on ebay. Here's the info from pinpics. http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=57988&sid=2762.1195086701

Correct. These are different from the original VMK Logo pins of December 2005. The backs of the new pins are stamped with Mickey's of Glendale. Release date: October 2007, LE 300 Cast Member only. Pin #57988
The previous pin was given to those who had tour cards, but the tour was cancelled, I believe. They were only given out for one week between Christmas 2005 and New Year's 2006. Pin # 43584
Hope that clears things up a little. Both pins are listed on Pinpics.com

Thanks SO much for clearing this up... I guess the ones I am seeing on E-Bay are the "Newer" versions. Very strange they would make the same pin again.

Funny you should mention this pin today. I got one off ebay and it came in the mail today. It is very nice and bigger than I expected. It looks rather pretty on my dream lanyard!

Well the prices are really going down since the E-Bay market is getting flooded with those pins. I may have to get me one. ;)

I would buy it soon - this run of pins was produced in a limited edition of only 300 pins - which will move pretty quickly.

I agree. I jumped on the "buy it now" and have this pin, for less than I tried to bid for the original. I actually like this pin better than the original, so I'm pleased twice over. :)

Over the last two years I've watched several auctions for the original pin go over $50... Too rich for my blood for a single pin. But this new version (which to me looks great, and I don't care if it's a "reprint"), I was able to Buy it Now for $20. Still more than I like to pay for a pin, but not much more than a LE pin in the park (in fact cheaper than a couple of $25 pins I've purchased before).

So yay, I'll finally have a basic (ie not-pirate) VMK pin!

Yup, this price is much more reasonable; I just snatched one up. Will be interesting to see how many of these go on auction.

I have the original - I paid $45 for it. It is different from the new one, as the lettering on the original is white at the bottom and the new one looks gold. Personally, I'd rather have the original, even though I am not a pin collector.
