Real or Fake? Christmas trees that is.

Fake.

My cat messes with trees too much, and has a knack for eating just about everything he can get his paws on (including paper  ). I'd worry too much about him eating real needles---I find enough of the fake needles when he throws them back up as it is. :rotfl:

Real

Half the fun for us is going out and picking the perfect tree. Actually, DH holds up and I pick.

We always get it the weekend after Thanksgiving. I make sure the end is not sapped up, then I either put aspirin or tree saver in the water. I water it every day, only have the lights on when we are home.

It lasts until New Years day, when we take it down.

This year---fake.

Normally we go for the real tree. I'm big into the family going out and finding the perfect tree, the whole decorating while a Christmas movie is on the TV, hot chocolate, and basically driving my DDs and DH crazy.

But this year, we'll be going the fake route, putting it up the weekend after Thanksgiving, and then leaving the next weekend for a week in WDW.....yeah!!!!! I just couldn't see leaving a live tree up while we're gone and didn't want to come home from the wonders of Disney at Christmastime to a bare home. So we'll decorate before we leave and our Christmas spirit will continue from our trip!

Fake. Pre-lit, and I don't have to worry about it drying out and dieing, or worse yet, becomeing a fire hazard. I just spray pine scent in the air. I've got friends and family that do real, and frankly their real trees look more "fake" than the fake ones, at least to me!

Fake! I leave mine up from Black Friday until at least the Epiphany (if not a little longer). Plus, I like not to have to worry about the safety of the tree or of my cat messing with it.

Growing up, we had both. In the family room, we put up the fake tree. In the living room, my parents would get a live (balled roots) tree. We could only have it in the house for 2 weeks, then my dad would plant it outside (usually on New Years Day). I hated only having the tree for 2 weeks. It was fun going to the tree farm though.

Fake, prelit with white lights. I put it up the day or 2 after turkey day and try to get it down before Jan 1 because that's my dd's b-day. It's hard to get it down and everything put away because we go out of town and this year we are scheduled to be back the 29th.

I have had fake since 1996. Now I just have a little fake one in a galvanized bucket, pre-lit. I put it on top of the entertainment center. In our next (hopefully bigger) house, I want to get one of those expensive tall, snow-white, pre-lit trees. I know this may sound incredibly tacky to some, but it's what I always wanted growing up. (A white tree, that is, I don't think they pre-lit them then!) Anyway, I WILL have it. I can have a tacky tree if I want, right? :rotfl: And I think they are pretty!

We get a real tree, which we usually cut down ourselves. We like to put it up the week after Thanksgiving, and as some have mentioned, it's a problem if we go to WDW around then because it needs go be watered. If I could find an artificial tree that I thought looked real, I might finally be ready to consider it.

Most definitely real. We usually go to the tree farm and cut our own - I think our 7 foot tree was $15 or $18 last year. I like spruces for their shape, but the needles are sharp. They usually last 3 - 4 weeks if cut fresh.

Don't want you to think I am picking on you at all...but I just have to add my "live tree knowledge"...LOL :p

I always buy my Christmas tree on Thanksgiving.....that booger lasts until a few day AFTER Christmas. Of course I buy it from a nursery and they make sure to have a hole drilled in the trunk so the tree can "drink" water during the season. :wave2:

same here!

definitely real trees in my house! (frasier fir)

Fake!!! :goodvibes Although I live in Christmas tree land, It's just to much crud to put up with a real tree, what with all the needles, the having to drag a huge tree through the door, having to saw off bottom limbs... Just tooooo much of a hassle. ;)

Infact our tree is not only fake, it is white and sparkly!! lol Which looks really pretty with the peppermint themed decorations for it.

Douglas Fir only. And we always buy it at the same place even if someone else has them cheaper.

REAL!
I have never had a fake tree growing up and don't plan to start now that I am on my own and married. It's only real xmas trees here!

Real. It's more fun to go every year to pick out a nice tree than having the same fake one.

Real----hello, I live in Oregon, Christmas Tree capitol, USA. :teeth: Driving down to my parents house, 25 minutes from here, I must pass at least 10-14 tree farms.

Love the smell of a real tree. Nobles aren't as messy with the needles, so I've been getting those the last few years.

Due to allergies, we cannot have a live tree anymore. I love my artificial prelit tree. It looks real. If i want tree scent, I just buy a Yankee Candle.

REAL !!!!

With allergies & 2 cats... fake all the way!

Plus w/o a fake there is no way I would be able to string 1000 lights on a tree myself!

We have a fake tree. I love the smell and look of a real tree. But a few years they dried out so fast we couldn't light them anymore.
With the fake tree we get to put it up early (Thanksgiving weekend) and enjoy it all month long :goodvibes
