Real or Fake? Christmas trees that is.

Fake. My annual Christmas sinus infections / bronchitis miraculously cleared up the very year we got our fake tree. Coincidence???

I have always had real until this past year.It had its good points but I really missed the smell.

I finally convinced my dh to let us get a fake tree last year. We got it at Sears last year. It's beautiful, 8' tall and has tons of white lights (another thing we disagreed about). It's not a cheap fake one, it looks real. I like the fact that it doesn't shed needles, and isn't ready to spontaneously combust before Christmas Day. The branches are also sturdier for all of our ornaments. Plus it pretty much pays for itself in about two years, with the cost of real trees. I miss the smell of a real tree, but even a real tree's smell fades after a week or two. I just burn pine candles! I love my fake tree!

Fake. We have tried real ones but they always died so quickly, a real fire hazard.

A few years ago we bought a fake through QVC it is great. I came with a remote for the lights. It has either white, colored or both lights. I put it up on Thanksgiving weekend and take it down the first weekend in Jan.

My kids and I usually turn on the lights as soon as we get up.

We have a tradition of cutting down our tree the day after Thanksgiving. The kids all laugh at me because I am picky about my tree... it can takes hours to find the perfect one. :)

I have to have a real tree. I love going to get one, I love the smell and look. However, I hate that they don't last long and we have to wait so long to put one up. I also hate the mess when the needles dry up and having to dispose of it, etc... but I still prefer to have a real one. Last year I decided to put up both! Best of both worlds. :flower:

real real real real real real did I mention REAL!

I've used a fake tree before but prefer a real tree, especially now that I have kids. When I was little a fond memory is picking our tree out each year so I'm passing on that tradition to my kids, but once they get older, I may go back to a beautiful, good quality fake tree again.

Fake. We put it up Thanksgiving weekend and gets taken down at New Years. We buy a large real wreath from our church that we put up on the garage.

We have a fake tree at home. My mom and I are allergic to real trees. One year my parents went and bought us a fake tree from Bronners. We still have it and it is fabulous. I love being able to breathe in the house now that we have one!

I had both up til this year. I would put the real one in the living room so you could see it from the street. I put the fake one in the family room. This year I've decided to forgo the real one and just put the fake one up. I just don't have the time or energy to deal with two trees anymore. The kids also have their own 3 ft fake trees in the rooms they decorate.

Artificial trees - No need to water, good ones look real, we put up 5+ trees each year and for people with asthma (me) real trees are a health hazard (most have mold etc. on them).

We get a real one. We got to a tree farm each year and cut one down.

The first year we ever had a fake tree was in 1989 when we moved to Miami. It was so hot we had to turn on the A/C and real trees were running about $70 :earseek: No way! I found a nice size fake for $49 and we've stuck with it ever since. In fact, I just bought a lovely white fake tree and we can't wait to put it up. We usually raise ours on Thanksgiving and take it down on new years Day, so a fake tree works better for us--no shedding and no fire hazard.

My parents always have real trees. So I had to have one also, I loved the look of it but hated the upkeep and the cleanup, Heck I still have pine needles everywhere! well hubby wanted a prelit tree, so last year a friend told me that Sears had 9 foot prelit pencil trees on 75% off in the ClEARANCE 3 months before xmas. So we called and had them hold us one. We got there and they told us, it was a mistake, so we complained to a manager ( we drove over an hour to get it) and found out it was priced right and he gave to to use for an additional 10% off so we got the tree for $33.75!!!! Its beautiful and so easy to set up and not have to worry about adding lights or water!!!!

Artificial. Though, growing up we got real trees - white flocked (can you tell I grew up in the 80's?). I always wanted a pink flocked tree.

I do miss the smell, but I don't miss stepping on needles in the middle of March. Last year, I bought a nightlight diffuser with evergreen scented oil. It made a huge difference!

I have to have a fake tree! I brake out into hives if I am around a real one too long. :confused3

Besides, I love having a pre-lite tree - what a time saver!

I prefer real but we were suffering so much from allergies that we had to finally give it up and go to an artificial tree. It's really pretty but I miss my fresh tree :(.
