Real Ice Cream Shakes

Just back from WDW and Beaches and Cream gave me a chocolate shake made with soft serve--that's the default unless you specifically ask for "hand scooped". Yuck! Never thought I would have to ask at an ice cream parlor to use ice cream.

So when I go back in January, I want to try something new. Any recommendations for real ice cream shakes (besides Ghirardelli's)? I know they can be found in unexpected places--I once had one at the food court at Pop that was great.

Probably look for places that say 'milk shakes' on their menu. If not using real ice cream, they have to call it something else. I know when buying 'ice cream' in the grocery store, you also have to look at the label. Breyer's used to be a great product (all natural/no additives/etc.) but someone else now owns them and has cheapened the product to the point where they can't even call it 'ice cream' anymore as defined by the FDA. I think it is now a 'frozen dairy product' or something similar.

IMO the best shake on property is at the Fountain
Another vote for the Fountain (at the Dolphin)! Not only do they have good shakes, but their burgers are better than B&C as well.

Going to the SwanDolphin on the 20th or 21st of Dec. to see Ms. Claus (the things ya do for kiddos, Lol) so think we’ll grab some shakes from The Fountain after the visit. Thanks for helping me formulate that day’s evening event. 👍🏾

Only "milkshake" I get at Disney is the Bailey and Kahlua one at HS and its really a frosty so not sure why places can call that a milkshake.

I will ONLY get actual milkshakes at my local places but yuck not with hard ice cream. That makes it more like cold chocolate milk.
Its way too thin. Plus I'd also NEVER get a chocolate shake made with chocolate ice cream.
Has to be vanilla custard with chocolate sauce (not hot fudge either SAUCE)

Fountain.....you'd think since I actually stayed at Dolphin, it may have crossed my mind! But I was meeting people at BC, so I didn't think to get one to go.

Well, yeah, i can site google...but I was looking for a recommendation. And as for the menu at B&C.....it lists it as

"Malts & Shakes

Your choice of Ice Cream topped with Whipped Cream, Sprinkles, and a Cherry"

No mention of soft serve/non dairy anywhere.

They "have to" call it something else? Are these places monitored by the FDA? You're lumping restaurants into packaging requirements. Restaurants aren't retail. I they were, they wouldn't be able to name menu items like "hand-fired steaks."
