Real Housewives' stars Teresa, Joe Giudice reportedly plan to plead guilty on fraud charges.

Teresa and Joe Giudice, stars of the Bravo network’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” have reached a plea agreement with prosecutors to resolve federal fraud charges in a deal that could send them to prison, a source familiar with the case said Friday.

The Montville couple will appear before U.S. District Judge Esther Salas in Newark on Tuesday to plead guilty to several mortgage and bankruptcy fraud charges, the source said.

Teresa Giudice would face less than two years in prison and her husband a minimum of three years, under federal sentencing guidelines, the source said.

A Bravo spokesperson said, “no comment,” when asked Friday for reaction to the report.

Indicted last year, the Giudices were scheduled to stand trial on April 14 on 41 counts alleging that between 2001 and 2011 they engaged in conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud. They both were charged with bank fraud, loan application fraud and bankruptcy fraud. Joe Giudice also is charged with failing to file tax returns for 2005-2009, and will plead guilty to a tax count, the source said.

Prosecutors allege the couple used fake pay stubs, tax returns and W-2 forms to inflate their incomes and obtain nearly $5 million in mortgages and other loans. They also allegedly concealed income derived from their Bravo cable television show and other business ventures after filing for bankruptcy in 2009.

Prosecutors required that the couple accept a “a packaged deal,” meaning that one defendant “could not plead without the other,” the source said.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office would not comment on the plea arrangements.

Miles Feinstein, a Clifton attorney who is representing Joe Giudice, said the couple will be in court next week, but he would not confirm or deny that pleas will be entered at that time.

At the same time, Feinstein said that a report by In Touch Weekly that Joe would serve a minimum of five years in federal prison and avoid deportation, and Teresa would have a maximum of five years probation was erroneous. He declined to elaborate.

Teresa Giudice’s lawyer, Henry Klingeman, could not be reached for comment.

In court filings in January, the Giudices asked Judge Salas to grant them separate trials, arguing that Joe Giudice has evidence of his wife’s innocence, but he would not testify if they are forced to stand trial together. Teresa Giudice said she wanted to testify on her own behalf, but not against her husband. Prosecutors opposed separate trials.

As a citizen of Italy, Joe Giudice could face deportation after serving time in prison.

Joe Giudice still is facing state charges for allegedly using false identification to obtain a driver’s license in 2010, while his license was under suspension following an intoxicated driving charge.

Giudice had by then accumulated 39 points on his license, for a variety of motor vehicle offenses; his license had also been suspended 47 times, according to a report from ABC News, which cited state records.

A trial date on the state charges, which could send him to jail for 10 years, has not been set after several postponements.

So much for them swearing that they were innocent. Such liars, they should lose everything. All of the reality 'stars'--I can't wait till all the tell all books by their kids come out, the Gosselin's, Guidice's.

I wonder who will take care of the kids while they are in jail. I don't think T would like her brother and his wife to look after them. (Although I think they would.) Are her parents in good enough health to care for 4 active little girls? Does she have any other family? Anybody suitable in Joe's family?

What is next after jail? Will they loose all their material possessions? I'd imagine they'd have a large amount of debt reinstated that they would have to work to pay back.

I just can't see T living in a 3 bed 2 bath 1500sq foot home driving a Hyundai...

I'm pretty sure Tre's mother takes care of them now. There was lots of talk about how she brags about having no nanny but in reality her mother is her nanny.

What a couple of bums:(
Poor kids:worried:

I can just see Bravo making all this into ANOTHER series-

Real Housewives Behind Bars :rolleyes2

I never that of that! Those would be good. That one Gosselin twin I think Madie & than Melania Guidice! I can see them writing a good one!

It said Tre would face less than 2 yrs. Does that mean she could get no time? Kind of like 2 yrs. would be the max?

So Joe is a min of 3 yrs. I thought they wanted to really throw the book at them. Seems like they would be very lucky to get this.

I guess they want to plead guilty to get lesser time? Is that right?

I knew a father and son with similar charges and they ran a business together which both families were dependant on as the only source of income. Part of the deal they made was that they would not have to serve their sentences at the same time. Dad went in first and when he got out the son went in. I wonder if Tre and Joe did something like that so one of them would be home for the children.

I have a feeling that Teresa is going to just get probation because of the children.
I think that is the reason they are doing the plea deal, to keep her out of jail.
THE KIDS ARE HER GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD.

It's really best for the kids if she doesn't go to jail though. Isn't it better for her to get a strong probation and fines than for her to go to jail and the kids ending up who knows where?

they have family that can care for the kids. I personally think it would be a tremendous life lesson for those girls to see that when you admittedly lie, steal and cheat there are consequences.

I still want to know how on earth he had his license suspended 47 times.

No kidding - that is unreal. How do you get your license suspended OVER 45 TIMES and not lose it completely?!

Very sad for their kids.

This is what happens when you live your life trying to keep up with the Joneses. I don't think the show necessarily drove them to that but it certainly didn't help.

I believe he did lose it completely at one point-one of the charges (in another case) had to do with him getting a license using his brother's identity. that caught up to him when he got pulled over or was in an accident and the cop realized who he was (vs. what his driver's license said).

Ahh that's right, I remember hearing about the brother and using his ID. I mean, I don't think anyone would say Joe is the sharpest knife in the drawer, but you're on TV and you think you can go around using someone else's ID?! :rotfl: What a loon.

What I wonder is if Joe will be deported; the article said he COULD face deportation after his prison sentence but I wonder what the likelihood of that would be.

Of Course! I hate for those girls to suffer, they are innocent.
She should have to see what its like though.
Her little high on the hog attitude deserves a little bit of real life instead of the princess life she lives, that she got by lying, cheating and stealing.
