ok now, don't laugh at me please! I am 23, and we have almost always had a fake tree. When we had a real one, I was very young and don't remember anything about it other than that it was pretty! Now comes my question...is there any easier way to water this thing?! Cause right now I'm performing gymnastic moves to get the water into the stand . I have a watering can with a long tip that works ok, but I don't think its getting enough water in there. Besides the fact that I have to either lay on my stomach and maneuver the darned thing into the stand, or somehow get it into the tree, and pray the water lands in the stand and not all over the floor :rolleyes1.

Anyways....does Home Depot or the hardware store make some magical easy Christmas tree watering device I don't know about? Any tips would be appreciated....at this rate i'll be in the hospital with an injury from attempting to water our tree :rotfl:

the one thing I found that works really well is called "randy the thirsty reindeer"
amazon is out of them, but I found one at Bettys attic.
you can see info on it at www.cyi.net

Are there any little kids around? My son is in charge of watering the tree. He fits underneath it better than i do. :santa:

This was our job as kids growing up, too. Mom would fill up the old glass pop bottles and we would dump them in.

Once all of us were teens, we to had to do the belly crawl. The one thing I remember though was mom and dad always picked out a really tall tree and trimmed off the bottom row of branches. This did two things, allowed more more to get to the stand to add water and gave us more room under the tree to stack gifts.

Since they trimmed off the lower row, those limbs could be a bit more scraggly looking when we choose our tree.

:thumbsup2 10 yo DD is taking care of it....no more standing on my head to water the dang thing! Now, if I just could have prevented it falling over last night...

My dh always takes care of this, and yes he crawls on his tummy under the tree to do it, with 2 quart tupperware pitcher LOL.

Well, I guess i'm not alone with the Christmas tree gymnastics! My brother is 21, and twice the size of me, so no help from anyone younger. Someone should start offering Christmas tree yoga :rotfl2:

We usually cut a few of the bottom branches in one area that does not look out of the norm. We save a milk container and clean it out nice. The milk container once laid on top will give a bit making it easier to get the water into the reservoir. Hope this helps.

I think a real tree is worth the hassle. Watering, needles, the day it gets removed... Still all worth it. We go to a tree farm every year. A tradition. Even my DD how started college this year, called and begged that we didn't get the tree until she could make it home.

Happy Holidays!!!:santa:

Not laughing at ALL, I got my very first real tree at 36!!! I remember because I was pregnant with my son!

Love the smell, HATED the work and those horrid needles:scared:. Nowadays no one gets close enough to my tree to tell if it's real or fake! :lmao:

So I just went to make sure the tree had water before I went up to bed. Apparently someone watered it without telling me. MAJOR water overflow! This real tree thing is way more work than anyone lets on :lmao:

A PVC pipe and a funnel work well. Just insert about a 3ft section of pipe through the branches into the stand. Then use a funnel to pour the water in. Voila! No gymnastics!

I actually bought something similiar this year that works on the same concept, except it has a velcro loop to attach the funnel section to the tree and a dipstick to check the water level. Very handy!:thumbsup2 They're only about $5.00 and I've seen them at several stores.

Us too :lmao:

Actually, over the years we have figured out to get a tree about a foot taller then we want, we then hack off the lower foot or two of branches leaving a good 18" of trunk exposed when you put it into the stand. This not only makes watering MUCH easier, it also gives you more room to put presents around.

 Ya'll are making me glad I have a nice fake tree.Put it up, leave it for 6-8wks, take it down, pack it away.
