So, for my Parenting and Children class, I have to take home a computerized baby for a weekend. Ha well, this weekend is my week. Has anyone had to do anything like this? And for those who don't have a clue what I'm talking about, it's a heavy baby doll and it cries really loud and you have to diaper it, feed it, change it's clothes, burp it, rock it, and take care of it. The only thing that moves is it's head and it only does that it you mishandle it.

I've only had it an hour and I'm already afraid of it. For one, it started acting up an hour before my teacher said she programmed it to. For two, I think I already abused the thing (on accident of course). And three, I just don't wanna take care of it! Grrrr!

i absolutly hated that thing.

it actually didn't wake me up too much at night, just twice. and it wasn't that hard.

and it was probably the worst night of my life, but when it's done you feel sooo good.

mine messed up. it was registering as crying when it really wasn't. i had like 104 abuses. :faint:

Ah, I had to do that last year. I'm not going to lie, it was torture. There was a 3-day weekend when I did it, so I got it for an extra day.

It was awful the last two days, especially at night. The last night I had it, it cried for half an hour every hour all night. I had to rock it forever.
But I managed to get a 97 or 98%.

Sometimes the sensors don't work or something, and even when you're feeding it, it will say you didn't and it will cry forever. I wanted to shove it in my closet and cover it with all my clothes to drown the sound out.

When my boyfriend did it, it wasn't crying at all when he first got it...so I shook it to see if it was broken. It must have done the abused cry for an hour. D:

lol. I have the same baby my friend's sister took and she said it barely cried. I'm so hoping its like that! I have an eye appointment tomorrow morning and I have to babysit my sibs tomorrow night. My family is going to the store tonight but I'm too afraid to take it out. I'm more than likely not going.

And we have to keep a diary thing.....

My friend hit hers on purpose and she still managed like a 97%. I think I already have one abuse thing though because it scared the crap out of me because it started and hour early so I wasn't expecting it and the stupid carseat was acting up. Grrrrr! Oh well.

I was supposed to take health this year, which is where we do this project. But my schedule did a switcheroo, meaning I have to take it next year. So my whole grade is walking around with these babies. My friend Emily actually took it with her to another friends party that I was at, and she was in tears by the end of the night, because it was being so annoying. I'm just mad that when everyone's done and over with this dumb thing, I'll be walking around the halls with a baby. People are gonna think I failed the class! Oh well.

Anyways, good luck! It'll be over before you know it

My boyfriend did this a couple weeks ago. Let's just say, it was crazy.

He brought it to a football game (he's in marching band), and the color guard took care of it.

Very, very interesting.

Thanks. I accidently hit it against a locker. But I was pushed. So it wasn;t my fault technically............;)

No offense to your bf or any other guy but I would kill to see a guy I know have to do this. See how their emotions get worked up.

Hmmmm, its not doing anything now. This would be a good time for sleep!

A new requirement this year I guess was to take the baby with you somewhere. Last year, people stayed home basically all weekend because they didn't want to be seen with it.

I was at Wal Mart back when they were doing this a few months ago, and I saw quite a few people with their fake annoying babies. I also saw some at HEB and the mall. I felt so bad for them.

I haven't had to do it, but people are always walking around school with those things.
And you'll just see them, stroking their baby in the middle of class, like it's real.

It's actually really strange if you think about it...

It's no stranger than the flour sack I had to take care of in high school. Try walking THAT thing around the mall in a baby carrier!

Thankfullly my school district doesnt do this so i dont have to live through it but other school districts around us do this and they say its real imberressing carrying a baby around with them...

Well I was gonna go to the store with my parents but my dad was like "I'm not going to be seen in public with that!" So yeah. Now I'm home with it.

OMG! My mom was telling me how she had to do that. I was like I'd much rather be seen with flour than a fake baby!

So here's the diary so far:

3-310--intense "coo-ing"
502-503--diaper change
509-524--feeding
525-528--rocking
529-535--another freaking feeding!

It's 627 right now and it's "sleeping".

I don't think we do it at our school. My PD teacher hasn't mentioned annnything about doing such a thing, and I haven't seen any sophomores walking around with anything and my brother never did it when he was in schoo, so I'll just assume I won't be doing it.

I'd let myself fail the assignment. I would not stay up all night for a plastic baby. Call me horrible, tell me I'm going to fail at life, but my plans in life aren't to have children. If I do for some reason, decide to have them, I would stay up for them. However, a plastic baby that is designed to annoy the hell out of me, no.

To all of you who are saying the baby is annoying or embarrassing to walk around in public with.... um, isn't that the point? It would be a lot more annoying or embarrassing to walk around high school pregnant and/or with a real baby.

Our school has those.
But you have to put that class as an elective which I'm not going to do.
But they always seemed pretty cool and I'd like to do it at least once. =)

I get to carry around a 5 lbs sack of flour for my health class this year for 2 weeks.

I'm gonna dress mine up like harry potter.

lol One girl in my class had it for a weekend and came back on Monday and was like "That's it! I'm getting my tubes tied!" Right now, its not too bad. Wait til tonight though. Oh Lord! :sad2:

I agree. I'd much rather have the plastic baby then a big belly with a baby. And I'm not embarrased about taking it out, I'm jsut afraid too.

I chose the class as an elective. They didn't tell us this assignment though. They surprised us the day after we couldn't change our schedule anymore.

Thats soooo not fair! That doesn't cry! Or need fed. Or need to be changed!
