Reagan the new face of the $10 bill?

Conservatives will push for image of 40th president to grace $10 bill, $20 bill or dime.

June 8, 2004: 12:11 PM EDT

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Ronald Reagan's face could one day adorn the $10 bill or half the dimes minted in the country, if fans of the late president get their way.

is an airport not enough? :p

I can possibly on half the dimes, but not as a replacement for Hamilton on the $10 bill. I think that's way silly.

Hey charlie, it sure is nice to see you around here.

I can't see them changing the dollars, but the dime, I don't know. I really don't think I like the changing our money to whoever is popular at the time. I think they need a really good reason he should be the one person that we change the dime for.

He told USA Today that he believed even Reagan would have objected to the snub of Hamilton.

"Hamilton was the prophet of the capitalist system that Ronald Reagan so admired," he was quoted as saying.

i have to say i agree with this. i mean, alexander hamilton was the first secretary of the treasury, and conceived of so many of our financial institutions. removing hamilton from money is just not right.

Is it wrong that I giggle every time I look at this?

I could MAYBE see a dime...but I don't think we should be changing our paper money.

What did they do - if anything - with LBJ passed away?

I recall reading that Nancy was against this. She feels that her husband would have been too.

I agree, I admire Ronald Reagan a great deal, but I don't think we should change the people on our money.

I think for some even the airport was too much.

But, to answer your question, no it's not enough. There needs to be a monument built in Washinton, more high schools named after him than JFK has. His face on some piece of money, Hell, JFK is on the half-dollar, anyone have a problem with that?

There needs to be a holiday celebrating his birthday as well, and not to be lumped in with "President's Day". I mean, MLK has his own day, and Reagan did as much for freedom AROUND THE WORLD, as MLK did in this country. So, why not?

regardless of the name, no one from dc calls it reagan national anyways.

i think the problem most people had with it was the fact that congress wanted all the metro signage changed asap and not on their normal replacement schedule, and doing so cost a bunch of money that congress was not willing to cough up.

Give it a while, it'll calm down. There is a tendency to view the recently deceased through rose colored glasses. He was a good man, performed his job admirably, but he wasn't a saint. I remember a lot of people complaining about the Iran-Contra scandals and now they've forgotten all about them. I know his family is in mourning but I just don't get all the outpouring of grief from all over the country. The man was 93, this was not unexpected. Let his family grieve, express your condolences to them but good grief people, you haven't spoken his name in years and now he was the greatest president ever??? I'm sure this will be an upopular opinion so I'm putting on my flame suit!:firefight

Part of the reason his name hasn't been spoken in years is that he's been unable to be in the public eye for years (although I rather doubt he would been the publicity hound some fairly recent ex-presidents have been).

Greatest President in the 20th Century along with FDR.

And GW Bush is the greatest President of the 21st Century :smooth:

I read that as well. Hard to argue that FDR or Hamilton should be ousted... now Jackson is another story. I wonder if he got on because of the cool flowing hair effect ;)

While I see your point, our coins were changed in the past because of who was popular at the time, and I don't this as really being any different. Changing coins is not that big a deal to me, though I would still favor doing a 50-50 FDR/Reagan dime rather than dumping FDR altogether.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

If anything is done and I don't think it should be they have to get a different picture. That one just looks ridiculous on our currency.

I don't have a problem with it. If they change it, that's great. If not, that's OK too.

To quote President Reagan: "We started out to change the nation and we changed the world". I too agree that President Bush will be a great two term president.

grinningghost on this.:o If so, whatever, if not, whatever. Don't get your Panties in a bunch, its still $$ no matter WHO is on it! ::yes::
