Reagan International?

Southwest has a very good price for our November trip flying out of Reagan..........but we have never flown out of there before? We will be driving from PA, and I heard traffic is pretty rough. Good thing is our departure is 2:55PM, so I would think we would miss rush hour.

We are using Rapid Rewards points, so I assume we can book Regan--and then keep an eye on BWI, and cancel if something comes up there?

You will be driving there late morning, so unless there is a traffic accident or construction delay, traffic should be okay. Yes, you can easily cancel and change if you book with points.

Reagan is a very small airport, very easy to navigate. Do you plan on parking at the airport? A lot of very close hotels offer garage parking and transfers to and from the airport, and about half the price of Reagan's economy lot, which is a surface lot. You can't book directly with the hotel, only through airport parking companies. We used airportparkingreservations.com.

You can also park in their terminal garage, which is $25/day, and is right next to the terminal, so no shuttle required.

Plan on arriving really early. DC traffic can be unpredictable, and there always seems to be an accident or something somewhere on the beltway.

IMHO, unless the savings is huge I would just fly out of BWI. Traffic in DC can get bad in a hurry with an accident.
