Hi everyone!

I decided this morning that I have spent enough time as a lurker and I'm ready to start posting! I am not new to WDW, but after spending so much time reading here at the DIS boards, I know that I am no expert and could benefit greatly from such a knowledgable community. I used a similar forum while planning cruises in the past, and this is exactly what I sought out while planning this WDW trip!

A little background:
I'm Vanessa. I'm turning 30 next month and I'm a stay at home mom and full-time Penn State University student. I've been a Disney lover since my parents took me to WDW for the first time in 1990.
My husband Eric is 31 and is a help desk manager at Penn State University. He has been to DL once as a child and WDW twice, once in high school for a week long stay at the Poly, and once for a quick off-site stay in 2006.
My daughter Julia is 12 and has been to WDW many times, mostly when she and I lived in Central Florida from 2005-2007.
My daughter Akira will be 3 next month and this is her very first time! She is very excited and we are all excited to see WDW through her eyes.

I have been bringing up a WDW vacation to my husband for several years now, and he has never been very receptive. He always maintained that we would wait until Akira was older so she would be able to handle the longer days and remember details of the trip. Well, we all owe a big "thank you" to Daddy's little girl, Akira, because she is such a Disney nut and she convinced Daddy all by herself.

Actually, I think DH might be just as excited as the rest of us since he discovered the DIS boards and began planning our trip. After hours of research, we booked a Woods-view bunk room at the Wilderness Lodge from April 27-May 4, along with the Disney Dining Plan. We had originally scheduled from June 5-June 12 but decided to move it to (what I have read is) a less crowded time and take Julia out of school. We won't get to enjoy Star Wars Weekends now (which my DH would love), but we are looking forward to the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival.

I'm looking forward to interacting with other Disney nuts and maybe even writing my first trip report!

You have picked our most favorite resort.....it's fantastic and the short boat ride to the MK is the best part....being close to the lakes it ideal...make sure you boat over to FW for some decent buffet at Trails End....breakfast and dinner are the best.....

Take some microwave popcorn with you...pop it some evening and head on down to the beach for the nightly movie..take some drinks and grab a couple of pool towels and enjoy.....don't miss the Electrical Water Parade either...around 9:30 pm...check the listing for both and around 3pm each day, there's pool activities put on by the CM's.....

Enjoy your stay....everything about the WL is good...you'll love it...

Thanks for the great advice! I was to WL for dinner at Whispering Canyon during a day trip in 2006 and I was so impressed. I can't wait to stay there! We went back and forth about which resort to chose, but we all agreed that WL would be perfect the perfect fit!

another long-time lurker NEWB here! WL is one of the few resorts we haven't tried yet, but it's on "the list!" Have a great trip!

Thanks everyone!

We actually changed our reservation now from the WL, and although I'm sad because I love that resort and have always wanted to stay there, I'm super excited about Old Key West!

We were concerned about space for an entire week with me, DH, DD12 and DD3 and we happened to find that it would only be a little more for a 1 BR Villa at OKW or Saratoga Springs. I picked OKW just for the bigger floor plan and the personal preference of theme.

Hopefully some day we get to the WL, but I know we will appreciate all that space!
