My DH and I are getting ready to buy a new camera, and I just want to make sure that I'm making the right decision. I don't know a whole lot about cameras, I just love taking pictures. Until recently I had a Kodak EasyShare P850 that I loved. I had it for about 3 years, but it suddenly decided to die on me. I thought it was a great camera-pretty good quality, good zoom, and very easy to use. I also have a Sony Cybershot DSC-120, and I hate it! I really didn't do a lot of research on it before I bought it, so it's mostly my fault.
The zoom is terrible, and it takes forever to actually take the shot! But I bought it for simple stuff. Anyway...to make a long story even longer, what I'm really looking to do is to replace my Kodak. I've pretty much narrowed down the one I want to the Canon Powershot SX10 IS. I've been to Best Buy and actually looked at the camera, and I've also read some reviews online from Best Buy, Walmart and Wolf Camera. Mostly, the camera has gotten really good reviews, but there are a couple that worry me. The other camera that I was looking at was a Nikon, but I've heard more negative reviews on it than the Canon. I also asked the guy at Best Buy for his advice, and he said that he personally would go with the Canon as well. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but it's definitely a big purchase for me and the DH, so I really want to make sure that I'm getting something that I will be happy with and that will last me for several years. Can anyone offer me any advice? Also...what would be the best place to buy it at? We were thinking Wolf Camera, as their price is the same as everyone else, and they offer no tax and free shipping. Thanks in advance!
