I know what gumbo is but what is Ya Ya. Is that anything like a LaLa. :teeth:
Ya Ya gumbo is the more typical Gumbo of Cajuns, Drebert. (I can hear you shuddering, Mark!)

Ya Ya Gumbo typically involves some sort of poultry and sausage, as opposed to the Creole version. That usually involves seafood and okra.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I'm free with my knowledge.

Mace is much like Nutmeg, but lighter. It is actually from the same plant. Nutmeg is the seed and Mace is from the seed covering.

See, that's why I like it here -- ask a question, get a good answer without having to Google it yourself!

Tink - I have never tried much Cajun cuisine after setting my mouth on fire the first time I had some.

It's all on the individual, Minnie. It doesn't HAVE to burn the mouth. :teeth:

Simply take any recipe you find and cut the pepper in 1/2.

I think I would like the Ya Ya better than the Creole. I don't mind the spice and okra but I don't like the seafood.

I REALLY like Cajun fried turkey! Yummmm!

Since I'm not much of a cook, I'll have to talk one of my friends who is handy in the kitchen into making some that is a bit less spicy.

I am going to see Beauty and the Beast next Friday night. It's not Broadway either but I am looking forward to it!

It helps get me by until Disney in September!

Great Drebert, I would love to see that too, I'm sure you'll love it

I made the Pirate thingy from a regular clipart

Cool Javamom. You are very good at that kind of thing. :thumbsup2

No really it isn't hard to do.. if I were really going to work on it though, I'd make it so that the pixie dust evaporates as well, but that is more effort than I want to put forth thus far.

What a feast for the eyes! The Fixers are back from family vacation to our new summer love, Lake Michigan. It was a beautiful time for the four of us to relax in a beautiful setting. Thank you to my dear Sisters for the calls, emails, and pictures.

Sincere thanks also to Ash, GACat, and Grammy for missing me here:). I missed you all, Vikings!

Booked my flight :cool1: to the meet while I was gone! My two traveling companion friends found us a deal and a half---$115 roundtrip!! :cheer2: Sadly, we had to add a fourth night :rotfl2: to get this great rate. That stinks :thumbsup2

The eye candy here is stunning! Shelby, I love your new sig pic. Sher, love the meet photo. Java, your siggie always puts us all to shame, and TINK!!!!!! What about that hopping pixie?! Love her! Love your pic, too, Drebert. You and Lacto have a purty family!!

The only disappointment of the trip, which I know you SpicePeople will understand, was a terrible Lemon Drop in a restaurant one night:

It had a Lemondrop candy in the bottom and no sugar on the rim!
I dropped a sugar cube in it, but it didn't help...

We climbed (I mean CLIMBED!!!) Sleeping Bear Dunes, an enormous sand dune that affords the strong-legged and strong-hearted an incredible 360 view of Lake Michigan and the surrounding National Lakeshore. Breathtaking!

I've loved catching up here tonight but I need some sleep now.

You beat me to this post, but then I'm often lagging in many areas. I might also add that nutmeg (or mace which has always struck me as being slightly weaker) is indispensable in banana bread, nutcake (an old family recipe that is made only from Thanksgiving to Christmas), coffee cakes, and dishes as manicotti or stuffed shells. Why I'm telling you all this I have no idea other than the fact that my caffeine has yet to kick in. . .

Love? I thought we were supposed to antagonize each other? Alright, then, XOXOX. Now, do you feel better, my little sher? Could I get you a fresh cup of tea? Earl Grey perhaps? Are your pillows comfy? Have you had breakfast yet? I could get you some eggs benedict with a side of fresh fruit. And don't forget, we have your facial, manicure, and pedicure scheduled for 10 this morning. Have I forgotten anything? :)
