Summer is here and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good summer reading.

I just finished reading The Guardian, by Nicholas Sparks -- it was very good. Then again, all of his books are really good.

Yes I have read that one as well and really liked it. It was a little different for him but very good. Also Second time around by Mary H. Clark is also very good.

I just picked up The Guardian, can't wait to start it. Right now I'm reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, I like it so far but it's not a page turner, I fall asleep easily. I just finished Last Man Standing, David Baldacci. It's an FBI thriller. Great read if you like that genre and you won't fall asleep reading this one! Before that King of Torts, Grisham, one of his best I thought and before that Crow Lake, Mary Lawson. That's as far back as I can remember. As you can see, I like all kinds of fiction. I tend to go back and forth between action/drama/thriller and relationship type novels.

I enjoyed the Secret Life of Bees as well. A good Southern women's novel. It's gets better as you go through it. Baldacci's Christmas Train was good as well. Even though it isn't the Christmas season now it would still be a good read this summer.

I read Christmas Train over the holidays this past year. A little different than his usual action/drama style, but I really enjoyed it. I encouraged my teenage daughter to read it.

Atkins New Diet Revolution by the late Robert C. Atkins, MD. Very interesting.

I'm in my non-fiction stage these days. Any suggestions for a good biography?

Don't want to start a debate, but I read Dereliction of Duty by Lt. Col Buzz Patterson, very eye opening

Well my Grandma just finished a biography about John Johnson.
She said it was great, but heartbreaking.

I love to read. I just finished a book called "Heaven Eyes" by David Almond. Its a great book, kind of in between non- fiction and fiction.

Now I'm reading "Perloo The Bold" by Avi. If you enjoyed the Redwall series by Brian Jaques, you will like this book. Right now I am just taking time for the recommended books that I get from people.

After "Perloo The Bold" I don't know what to read! Seriously, I've cleaned out my school librarys fantasy section.

The problem is, my dad doesn't really like heavy magic, aka dark magic books. Hes actually doesn't like any magic, but I manage to finish a book before he sees it.
I like the type of medevil magic stuff. With swords, and horses and magic.
Do you know of such a book?
Thanks

The new biography by Loretta Lynn, "Still Woman Enough" was excellent. I read it on the plane to Orlando.

dbond, I saw that book in the bookstore on Thursday. It looked good although I don't like the idea of a bashing book - even of a president I didn't support. Do you think he covered his bases well, did you believe him?

"Speaks The Nightbird" by Robert McCammon. A witch trial story set in the Carolinas at the end of the 1700s. Fascinating.

The book was very well done, lots and lots of footnotes and factual accounts that were documented. The author imposed very little of his own opinion, he stated frequently that wasn't his intent. He just felt an obligation to the American people to report the facts as he experienced them during his service as Military Aide to the President. The book was very believable.

Don't know if you like this kind of book or not but I finished The Three Fates by Nora Roberts not too long ago and it was very good.

Just finished Nora Roberts writing at J.D. Robb in her latest book,
in Portrait by Death. Excellent series.

Flags of Our Fathers. I read this when it came out in paperback. Every American adult should read this!

I'm currently reading Darkside by P.T. Deutermann. Its a military academy thriller.

Yes I have! Sounds kind of goofy, but I just finished Kitty Carlisle's Autobiography. What a fascinating woman! That book just blew me away - and I thought all she was was the To Tell the Truth lady. She has lived some amazing life - since she was a little girl. I found it at the library - it was written in 1988, but she's still alive and kicking.

I'm currently reading The Making of the Wizard of Oz - also fascinating reading.:D
