re:Telemarketers

No, because our numbers are on the do not call registry.

We are on the Do Not Call list but still occasionally receive calls. Sometimes (like last night) it is a computerized call and it disconnects when you answer, but if you look up the number from caller ID it is from a timeshare reseller. Last night's # was 407-418-0094 and a Google search reports many others being bothered by this caller.

No - never received any calls either. Wonder how they got your number and know you have a timeshare?

Your deed is public record. If your phone number is listed, a simple internet search would give them all the contact information they need.

...and some of these folks aren't really burdened with a need to follow the law, so while a Do Not Call entry helps, it doesn't prevent it entirely.

Usually when I get one of these calls, no one answers when I pick up. I don't know how the Do Not Call list works, but I wonder if the computer dials the number then hangs up if it finds a match on the Do Not Call list. I think only once or twice have I had a person respond when I answer.

I have gotten messages from these callers before, but I rarely answer a phone call I do not recognize so I have never actually spoken to one of them. They just say if I am interested in selling to call them back.

Jean, while businesses are required by law to buy the Do not call lists, there are plenty of unscrupulous ones out there who don't. When you get a no-answer, it is likely because the "agent" on the other end has not yet answered when your phone picked up.

I don't usually answer "suspicious" calls, but sometimes I do so by mistake. When that happens, I ask the caller if they purchased the required do not call list. That question usually gets me hung up on by them!!:lmao: The next thing I do is go online and report it on the do not call registry.

Thanks for the info, Diane. I guess that I should be more careful about which calls I answer, but when I see a 407 area code I am afraid to not answer for fear that it is a call from Disney regarding a reservation or ADR or perhaps it might be the scooter rental company.

I saw on news today that timeshare resales are the latest scam going around. The bad guys know that owners are eager to sell so they are taking listings with a processing fee for a guaranteed sale. The fee will be returned when you close. :rotfl2:

Guess what, no listing, no company, no return of your money. :sad2:

According to the report, the scammers even have great websites!

The Feds went on to say that getting your money back was next to imposable.

:earsboy: Bill

no one has contacted us you do wonder where they got your number from

I have gotten one asking me about my VWL contract that I sold last year. I told them I didn't own VWL and that they needed to remove me from the list.

No calls but occasionally get some mail soliciting us to sell. We are on the Do Not Call list.

I have received at least 2 messages telling me that if I was serious about selling my DVC timeshares to call....... I have never expressed interest in selling so I assume these were scams or extremely hungry timeshare resellers.

I recently heard that timeshare scams are very popular right now where you send in an upfront fee, but your timeshare is never sold and the company disappears. I advise that everyone be cautious when discussing your DVC contract to an unsolicited caller.

We've been getting some of those calls. Very annoying. They ask if we would like to sell. And we always say no, we're happy with what we have. But, they call again a few days later.

Before I bought DVC, I was getting almost daily phone calls asking if I wanted to sell my time share (I did not own one).

Since I bought DVC, I get a call a week asking if I want to sell my DVC contract. I also now get a call a week from other time share sellers asking if I want to buy into their system.

We just got one. They are talking about being scammed
Do they know we own Disney?
