Mom2of2 has been working really hard to answer all the emails, PMs, posts, etc. re. the Stroller Swap AND trying to get ready for her FIRST DISNEY WORLD TRIP, in 3 DAYS !!

Sooooooo, to cut down on her mail, & help her get some time to pack, I'm going to try to go thru all the info again:

Rileygirl, who is at WDW now, bought a stroller to take with them--She got the idea to pass it along to other DISers ---- THANK YOU, RILEYGIRL !!!

It's a brand new, bright blue, lightweight collapsible stroller, has a canopy top, removable tray, & small basket in the bottom. It was bought for a 5 yr. old, weighing 35-40 lbs. - It's not appropriate for an infant, but great for toddlers ( Tmli brought up the question about an older child, about 50 lbs.-- Mom2of2 will be finding out about that when she meets Rileygirl -- One of them will post the answer when she gets back ). I'm meeting Mom2of2
this Friday night, so I'll take pictures with my digital camera -- I'll post them in the DIS Photo Gallery when I get back Monday & post a link on this board...............

There's also a scrapbook with supplies ( paper, glue, scissors, stickers, & other Disney stuff ) to be passed along with the stroller .... THANKS AGAIN, RILEYGIRL !!!
..... So that everyone who sits or uses it can add something about themselves/their trip........

Rileygirl is hoping that everyone will put their name on something lime-green (DISers wear lime-green ribbons to identify other Disers at WDW), to hang on the stroller, so that it will eventually turn from blue to lime-green.............

Unless I forgotten anything (I'll update this post, if needed):

Here's what to do if you're interested in either using the stroller, or stroller-sitting between users -- We need both!!:

1. Read this post (duh Kathleen........If you see this, you've
read the post.........) Post any questions on this thread,
& anyone who knows, please post the answer........

2. Then go to the Stroller Swap list (at the top of the 1st
page) & see if your dates are available ---

IMPORTANT! PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THE STROLLER LIST!
(The original post took me 20 minutes to print its 21 pages)

3. If your dates are open, send a PM/email to Mom2of2 to be
added to the list----she'll get back to you, confirming who's
before & after you, so you can work out the swaps with
them **..........( Even if your dates aren't open, maybe you
can let her know that you want to go on a standby list, in
case someone has to cancel )

** Mom2of2 is checking into ways to "park" the stroller if there are gaps in dates.....Maybe we'll find out a way while at WDW this week......If anyone knows a CM, or a has a solution, pls. post on this thread. Thanks!

I hope this covers it ...... This is the best idea I've ever heard on the boards, and hopefully, the stroller will still be DISing its way around to me in November !!

And, MOM2of2, THANKS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK MAKING THIS WORK!!!!!!!!!!! Now, go pack !!!!

Thanks Kathleen! I really appreciate you posting this for me. I have threads all over the place about this and spend tons of time bouncing around looking at them all!!!!

If there is anyone interested in dates and would like to request a swap or sit please remember that I will be at WDW from 3/20-3/27 so I will get back to you on 3/28. There are still plenty of dates available, although the summer is getting pretty full.

Ok I'm going to pack!

Oh how I wish the tag fairy would add a little something to my name....such as "Let the good times strolllllll!";)

My kids are grown so I don't need to use the stroller ... I think it is a wonderful idea.

HOWEVER, upon reading how many are lined up to use the stroller, couldn't help but wonder what the plan is for when/if it breaks down?? It looks like there will be some pretty constant and significant use ... ???

Well I'm working on a plan. I can't do much until I get down there on the 20th and talk to Rileygirl and KathleenFl in person. I am hoping that a CM will help us with our "off" times. I'm also going to check out how long lost and found will hold a "found" item. As of today I have 24 swappers/sitters. Rileygirl gets back the 21st so she will post whatever info she found out and I believe KathleenFl gets back the 24th so she will post as well. I then get back the 27th so by then we should all know what is going to happen. IF/when the swap falls apart I will ask the last holder to please hand off the stroller to whomever looks like they could use one! Also if the stroller "breaks down" (god forbid!) hopefully we will know about it long before that happens and it can be replaced........

Good question Trapped, we did "burn out" an inexpensive stroller on a 10-day WDW trip when our DD was just an infant. Please don't take this as a comment that the stroller being used for the swap is "cheap" I don't even know what type it is. I'm just saying those miles of Disney strolling really can take a toll.

Some ideas:
1. Someone else down the line contributes another stroller to the cause.

2. Some kind of donation system. The problem would be "overseeing" the funds and the purchase.

3. (really 1 and 2 combined) Someone buys a new stroller, and those willing contribute to the purchase price. Hey, it's got to be less than paying the $8 a day Disney fee!

I'm just throwing out ideas while trying to get through to the doctor's office. Don't you hate needing an appointment on a Monday morning? How dare all those other kids get sick over the weekend! ;)

Hi there

I am back

met mom, and we had a great time!!! Really, it was a highlight, and gave me something to look forward to at the end of the trip.
My eight year old who is 65 lbs would demand stroller time, and it was no problem!
It actually is a nice quality stroller, and eddie bauer lightweight which original price was 150 canadian, but I found it in the bargain bin at a discount store for less than half of that, which worked out to be about 30 american dollars....so a huge deal! I hope it lasts, but you are right, there will be a lot of miles put on it. If it looks like it is getting run down or broken I hope that this information gets posted so we can deal with it and not have any dissappointed families.
thank you Kathleen for all your hard work, and I know mom has really been going crazy trying to organize this before her trip. I should point out that Mom2of2 came up with the idea to start a thread on this stroller, I was just going to ask her to pass it on to a family that looked like they needed one in a random act of kindness. So thank you Mom2of2.
God Bless you all
Rileygirl
