How dee is the water at the end of the slide? My youngest wears a blow up vest (not water wings) -- would that be permitted?

I believe the water at the end of the slide at SAB is 4 - 4 1/2 feet and waterwings or swim vests are prohibited to be used on the slide.

When we swam at BWV in August, my youngest DD wore a life vest going down the slide and no one ever said anything about it. I would ask the resort to be sure, but we didn't have a problem.

Vests aren't allowed at SAB because of the enclosed section of the slide. The slide at BWV's isn't enclosed at all.

We did ask at the resort a few years back and were given the same answer as jel0511, they are not allowed because the vest or floatation device could get caught in the enclosed part of the slide. They also will not let a child go down that slide unless they can at least swim to the side or to a parent waiting by the other side of the rope from the slide. My daughter went down the slide several times when she was 4. She wasn't a great swimmer at the time, but good enough to swim a few feet to the other side of the rope where I was waiting (and could grab her in case of an emergency).

I was really surprised when we went to AKL one year, they will basically let one parent toss a 1 year old child down the slide while the other parent catches them at the end.

So...for the slide at BW, a vest is allowed? Are there any other small slides at BC?

Sorry, forgot to mention, yes there is a small slide and kiddie pool in the pirate ship that is ideal for young kids.

Great! Then all my kids will be happy at the same pool!

Thanks!!

My son (4) was afraid to try the big slide, but the kiddie slide around back was perfect. I am pretty sure he wore his life vest there. I KNOW he wore it all over the rest of SAB -- we have pictures! The kiddie slide is short -- like a slide at a playground -- and dumps them in just 2 or 3 feet of water. Tons of tiny kids were on it. What's tricky is that the baby slide lets out nowhere near the bottom of the bigger slide. You have to get out of the water and walk around the back of the big slide to get to the kiddie slide. In fact, my only problem with SAB is that it's so big and winding that it is easy to lose track of the kids! Suggestion? Get bright bathing suits. My daughter had a "hot cherry pink" tye-dyed wetsuit to protect her from the sun (a miracle item bought from Children's Wear Digest or CWD on the internet search) and I could see her from way across the pool! Overall, my kids LOVED SAB. The coolest thing was getting the kiddie meal at Hurricane Hanna's. For an extra $1 or so, it comes in a pail with a little shovel and then the kids can have fun for hours on the sandy beach section of the pool.

Enjoy!

We are SO looking forward to our vacation at BCV...I only wish it weren't 7 months away!! The kids have seen pics of SAB on the internet and are very excited. Thanks for all the info.

Pam
