Hi NurseKim- It depends on what you call walking distance. Yes you probably could walk from some of the hotels, but even the walk from the parking lots are far, thank god for the people movers (flat escalators).

It is a bit of a walk. You have to cross a really busy 4 lane street and then walk pretty fair to even get near the parking garage. I would hate to have to walk back after a long day in the park. They say walking distance, but it isn't a five minute walk!
There is a bit of a shortcut,,,as you come onto the property off Major Blvd., enter the parking garage at ground level, take a stairwell up one level, and then you too can utilize the moving sidewalks. Helps a little bit, especially after a long day. It is about a 10-15 minute walk form the hotels to Citywalk, depending on your pace.
Amerisuites next door to HI ran a shuttle but times were limited. Do be careful at Major and Kirkman, the major intersection spoken about above. It is NOT the most pedestrian friendly intersection. We just ended up taking the car after the first day so we could have a mid day break back in June of'01.
It's a long walk but very doable...we missed the hotel shuttle when we were staying there and a few years ago. It took us about 20 minutes to walk back to the hotel with 4 kids in tow. It would be better to catch the shuttle, but the end of the parking lot is just across the street (BIG street). If you get a crummy parking space your walking just about as far.
