We,dyed our 12 Easter eggs and by the time we were done I was frazzled! I worried about their clothes getting stained (too late to get smocks on), and I worried about them dropping the eggs among other things. I am a true pessimist.

How'd you fare? Were you strees free of panicy like me?

DS10 and I did 3 dozen, had an awesome time. And I'm loving his "dyed" fingers.

Usually I am big into the coloring of eggs but this year the kids were so tired when we got to it, that I got stressed. My 2 year old just kept breaking the eggs. She would drop them from about 6 inches above the cup into the color. She threw one back into the bowl that cracked. She was moving so fast that we couldn't keep up with her!

But the best was when she had an egg in her hand and leaned over the table smashing the egg into the table. Yes, the girl actually used the hand with the egg to hold herself up so she could get another one out of the bowl!

I got stressed but overall it was fun, but I am glad its over. The 2 year old was all over the place due to not having a nap and being outside all day! At least my 4 year old tried her very, very best not to break any.

They were both very proud when I told them the Easter Bunny would really love their eggs, even the cracked ones.

Stress-free :thumbsup2 :teeth: My almost 16 yr. old went out on his first date this evening...so this was our first Easter egg dye-ing without him :guilty: But my other kids - almost 15, 12, 10, 7, & 5 AND me and my DH dyed all the eggs and had lots of fun. I'll put their baskets together in a little while :goodvibes

Boy do I remember those days LOL! (You might think I'm crazy...but I actually miss them!)

My kiddos had a great time dying eggs. I bought a really cool kit at the Dollar Tree that didn't need mixing or vinigar. You just dropped the tablet into a cup. My kids had a great time and made some really nice eggs.

We just use these as decorations at Easter dinner. The egg hunt is with candy filled plastic eggs.

My daughter and I had colored eggs twice to test out a new design and I was worried. The rest of our eggs will be done tomorrow so I will put her in her house clothes, then will put her dress on so that I don't have to really worry about her clothes getting stained.

This was our first year dying eggs together (DS will be 3 in July). He had a great time and didn't make a mess! He carefully dropped the eggs in the dye as I told him to do, and then he let me or DH get the eggs out. We let the eggs dry before putting stickers on them, so not much mess this year. I'm sure next year he'll want to be more "hands on."

With the exception of my oldest, I only let my two little boys dye eggs in their underwear! They're so messy, and I didn't want to have to worry about them dying their clothes. Good thing too, because they somehow were covered in dye!

I went for stress free...for me at least! DH did it with girls while I took a long, hot bath!

If it were up to me we wouldn't have dyed eggs. I hate to do it so much I would have offered them $$$$ not to!

I boiled the eggs and made a convenient trip to Walgreens. Left dd and hubby at it.....LOL. Came home to some nice, purty eggs. :teeth:

We had a wonderful time. My kids loved it.

DS(3) and DS (20mths) had different egg coloring styles. DS3 loved to do as many as he could, having an egg in every color. DS20mths liked to plop and drop and smash his eggs.

Before children, I was a pre-k teacher, so I am used to the messy art project type activities.

:thumbsup2 Stress free with 3 boys

I don't do the drop it in the dye thing. I buy the kits that have sparkly paint and they really enjoy that. I comes with 6 colors, a palette, and a sponge for each color. Personally, I found the kids to be bored waiting for the eggs to turn the right shade and this was a lot more fun :)

I was going the plastic route (DD is only 2.5) but I got the mumps and my mom swooped into the house this morning while I went to the doctor's. She had two dozen eggs, dye and a BIG basket of candy and toys for DD. By the time we got back it was all over. My mother couldn't believe we weren't going to dye Easter eggs this year, so she did it for us!

Then she concluded that DD really could have cared less. She just wanted to play with the toys and eat the candy. Grandma ended up doing all the work!!

We won't do "eggs" this year. I wanted to decorate Egg shaped cookies but couldn't find a egg cookie cutter :( . I know we won't eat the eggs and hate the waste, so I figured the cookies would be a better route.

I am still trying to figure out if it really is Easter or not.

I love these stories, especially this one! I remember those days of dropping the eggs in from 6 inches above the cup! LOL

My two DDs (17 and 15) and my DS (13) started coloring eggs while I showered late this afternoon. I bought a super cool sparkly egg coloring kit last year, 75% off. When I came out of the shower, I was bombarded with complaints that the stuff didn't work...the color didn't take, and then you had to add the sparkle with a crappy little brush. Oh well...so much for a bargain. They didn't add the sparkle, and the eggs look pretty pathetic. But they had fun complaining about another one of mom's "bargains". :)

It was stress-free! Weather permitting, we dye our eggs outside on our picnic table. We wear old clothes so I don't have to worry about stains.

Here is ds dying eggs today:

It was fun!

This year was the first stress free egg dying I've been involved in since I was the kid! :goodvibes DD is 5 now and much more patient than before! Amazing the difference when you only do one egg at a time!!

DH and I colored eggs with our 2 DS's and had a really good time. One of the most fun things about Easter in our house :)
